Hello everyone,
We are Ann & Harry both mid sixties and just growing up.
We have just come back from the Newark show and we have jumped right in unexpectedly
by buying a motorhome from Fullers stand. We were "only going to look" as you do and did not expect to have parted with our hard earned pennies.
We expect to pick it up in three weeks time, it is a Bentley Indigo which really caught our eye as it looks really well finished off. We spoke to the maker Richard Bentley who, along with his father started the company in an industrial unit opposite their first company, Autocruise in Mexborough Yorkshire with a very good pedigree. We understand he has some of the ex Autocruise employees already working for them.
We do not know what will be required from us and our first few outings are going to be fun
especially when we do the wrong thing and look foolish but we are both up for a laugh anyway. We used to laugh at newbies putting up awnings and tents years ago before we would go over and help them out. Lets hope the motorhome fraternity will be gentle with us so that we can all laugh. Not sure what we will need or whether we will want levellers and things like that but we are sure we will soon find out.
We are looking at insurances and so far Safeguard and Comfort have quoted.
Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with either company as they both offer unlimited EU coverage and breakdown for around the same price although Safeguard
is quoting no mileage and comfort quote 6000 miles before the price goes up.
Are these two specialised in motorhome and do we need to get a quote from anyone else.
Big question? which club or clubs should we join especially for EU although we have no immediate plans we must look to the future.
Thank you for reading our little introduction hope it is not too long.
Kindest regards
atlantisbird

welcome from us also

As Peter of Johns Cross has said.. best money you will spend is the £10 subscription to stay active on the site.. you will see that it saves you money, not only in discounts like Johns Cross gives members, but from the massive free information and help you will get from the members.

I insure with safeguard.. I have an RV that is over 3.5 tons.. that is where Safeguard wins out.. as they have a much higher recovery value of toll roads and regulated roads in france... if you are below 3.5 tons you get a lot less for some reason.. need to read the policy.

If you are going to head overseas look up past posts about ADAC.. that is a recovery plus service that is valid in Europe as well as the UK.. cheaper than a normal AA membership.. ADAC is a German company and has 17m members..

Other off the cuff advice is come along to a MHF section of a show.. if you are a member on here (having paid the subs) you can join other members in our own area.. that way you put faces to names and get a chance to join in as much or as little as you like.

Recommend it.

Hello everyone,
We are Ann & Harry both mid sixties and just growing up.
Hello Ann & Harry,

Welcome to FUN. We can't add much to the good advice already given, but we do wish you well with your new MH.
We are currently insured with NFU, but that may change around renewal time.

There are a couple of FUN meets coming up in the Northern region, which may be closer and handier for your first FUN outing, but you must be a subscriber as Bob has pointed out, (insurance purposes).

Cheers for now,

Jock & Rita.
