As a less than newbie, what do the red numbers mean? (1 Viewer)

As my ignorance places me as being amongst the innocents, I ask here, as any other Newbie might, what do the red numbers above 'Media' and 'Showcase' mean? I have worked out that red numbers above alerts means someone has acknowledged my text.

With me red numbers usually mean I've spent too much

They represent the number of items that others have put in those categories, if you click on them they open up and you can either look at the photos of click on mark as read, which is on the far left second line on the top bar, hope this helps.
