Took about 100 photos atLink Removed this morning. I hooked up my card reader to my PC to download the photos and was informed that my disk need formatting:Eeek: Just could not get at the photos. Anyway did a quick format to make it readable and using a trial copy of "Recover My Photos" I can see the photos but it looks like I will have to buy the program for $40 to get my photos back. Anyone have a cheaper solution?

Don't know of a cheaper method, but if the pictures look good it's probably worth the money to you, after all it's a very specialised type of program.

Jim, Have you tried connecting the camera to the PC via it's USB port? Maybe using the camera as a card reader would have more success. Some card readers have difficulty with the very large JPEG files.

Just had another look at your OP Jim. 12.7Mb seems to be an awfully large file size for an 11Mp image - even with JPEG compression set at zero. It's about the right size for a RAW file but the software clearly identifies them as JPEG. I would have expected a normal 11Mp JPEG to be about 2.5Mb. :whatthe::whatthe:

It crossed my mind that as Jim has already format the card it won't help, so his only hope is that he can recover the files from it. I seem to remember having a similar problem with a cheap flash memory stick from one of the large emporiums. Vowed never to buy cheap memory ever again. Tend to stick to Scandisk. There are probably other very good brands equally as good.

The camera has a full frame sensor so the files are big, 21 mb. Today I was catching RAW and a 12mb jpg at the same time onto a 8GB SanDisk Extreme Compact Flash Card - 60MB/s. They don't come much better, but they all fail eventually, its not if but when.

Jim, I know it does not help with your present problem but it might help to stop it happening again.

I have seen the report "disk needs formatting" after I had not properly dismounted the memory source, many due to having that many usb type memories attached that I unmounted the wrong one and pulled out the memory without it being unmounted.

OK I might be miles off but it might help someone else.
