Area Autocaravans Cartagena - This is a great aire – Fantastic greeting and welcome. Access was not easy as our satnav tried to take us down the wrong road. However they had a scout out (son of the owner) at that point to direct us in. This was on 21st December 2012. The access road is two way but quite narrow in places. The site is off the N-301a. From Cartagena in the direction of Murcia, drive about 4km on Calle Alphonis X111. At the roundabout to Santa Ana and Bohio take the first right signed Bohio then immediate left past the side of “GoMerCash” cash and carry, into the road signed El Molino Derribao. The site is on right on second bend. It is signed with the standard blue motorhome dump sign. GPS 37.65347 W 001.00336 or N37° 39' 22” W 1° 00' 22”Charges are10€ per night Full Services - 7€ per night without elec. - 4€ Dump & Fill – 4€ Washing Machine & DryerThis aire is well laid out into 28 pitches. There is a reception with tourist information staffed by a friendly family who have a little english.EU hookups are the European standard. WiFi is free to users by use of a code. There are Male and Female toilets with disabled access ramps. These have toilet, washbasin and shower. There is a picnic area (covered table and seating) and a childrens play area adjacent to this. The site has been planted with trees and flowers, which are establishing as the site was only opened in July 2012. Another building contans a washing machine and dryer. This is avalable for 4€.The dump is on a concrete ramp with a transverse grid for waste water and a covered one for cassette dumping. A hose is provided for swilling the area after use, A threaded tap is provided for drinking water. A rubbish bin is provided in a wooden enclosure. The family that run the site are motorhomers and the parents were on site in their motorhome when we visited. The son and daughter speak some English. They also have a caravan on site. Security is provided overnight. The site is gated and surrounded by a 2m wire mesh fence. A key is available to users if they wish to go off site for a meal or drink in Los Delores. The site is on the edge of Los Dolores in a semi rural area. There are regular buses on the N-301a to Cartagena if you wish to leave the van behind and do the tourist thing. We were greeted as friends and a table was laid with sweets and bottles of Sherry, Whisky and Anis with glasses. We were told to help ourselves and treat the site as our home. We were told of places to visit within walking distance. This was in contrast to the Aire in the City of Cartagena near Eroski where we were charged the same fee for an overnight stop without EHU or WiFi and had to pay 1€ to get water even to rinse the cassette. If you are in the area well worth a visit to Area Autocaravaners.Website http:/www.areaautocaravanas.comTelephone 662-32-64-12email info@areaautocaravas.com

The aire sounds better than the camera shot on Google maps. It looks like an empty scrapyard! Thought you may of popped down to el portus its only 30 mins from there. 'camping naturista el portus'

Hi Brightspark

We are touring Spain this year. We have been since October, mostly wild parking. We were at El Portus for 3 weeks until yesterday and are now heading for Mazarron to meet up with someone from the Motorhome365 forum. We are then going to Calnegre for Christmas then carrying on down Spain and returning to the UK through Portugal. Back to the UK for Easter. We decided to try out the Aires in Cartagena on our travells. We also used the one at Jalance on the way down. It has been cold since mid of November in Spain this year.

Yes the pictures on Google Earth are well out of date. The Cash and Carry on the google image has Dannone on the side of it.

We have had a quiet night apart from a cockerel crowing at 3am.

There are two radio hams next to this site and boy-oh-boy do they have massive beams on towers. Makes my rig and antenna insignificant.

We are off at 09:30 so don't know where I will next be able to get onto the forum

Have a nice Christmas and a happy new year. That goes for all other forum members

Not long enough, but a little common sense helps..........
We visited this place today when out with friends in their car.
Their current rate is 10 euro's - includes electricity on the plot, water filling and emptying black and grey water waste and free wifi or 7 euros without EHU. They have no problems with pets.
It is a 4km walk into the centre of Cartagena or walk 400metres to bus stop and that that into centre.
There is not much in the way of things to do on site, but the wash rooms and toilets were spotless. We plan to visit there end of next week for 5/7 days so will update then, but for 7 a night got to be worth a visit.
