We have joined the CC and this weekend stayed for the first time on one of their sites. It was imaculate but totally soulless. All the vans were parked inline, a regulation distance from the next. No hedges divided the pitches and the site was totally without character.
Are CC sites aways like this?

I'm sorry to say.......yes they are. Due to rules and regulations all the sites have to have a certain distance between vans and hedges take too much looking after.

Yes, 6 months in prison if you are more than 2 inches out of line. After 25 years of being a member did not renew this year.

No, no, no and no again!

Get yourself to the CC site at Kendal. In the grounds of an old gunpowder factory, the pitches are in small enclosures on different levels.

CC Chirk is lovely and arranged in 3 circular tiers.

I'll think of some more beauties in a bit :)

Some commercial sites and CCC sites are as soulless as a gravel carpark.

If you want chaos and less gaps in between Moho's your in the wrong country @Barge Safran, you need to be in France or Spain. Just had three weeks of "closeness":LOL::LOL:

Great aren't they...! A standard you can rely on...(y)

Not all the same....

I paid for my 6m of comfort and security and love the peace and quiet and don't want anyone coming on my patch and quaffing some inaudible small talk....

Never mind that, were the showers hot and powerful, were they clean. Get you priorities right.

Try here, not CC, lovely hedges.........

Recently stayed on CC site at Whitewater at Stockton on Tees. Site was immaculate, wardens were very friendly and helpful.
People around us were friendly and talkative.
Showers and toilet faclities were superb.
Overall a great stay

I've never been to one of their sites that I would willingly visit again.

We pretty much only use Britstops in the UK now and much prefer crossing the channel so we can use our MH without having loads of pointless rules and regulations imposed on us.

Try Lower Wensleydale CC site at Leyburn, Yorkshire. You couldn't see a straight line anywhere. Very nice site!

Few years
One think I will say about the CC club sites is that you can book for one night stays. Over summer I needed some one night stays on club sites and as a member of both CCC and CC feel that the CCC policy of 2 night minimum stay (or at one site 3 nights) is of no use to motorhomes touring - maybe fine if your in a tent/caravan but we prefer one night and away!

All the CC sites we have stayed are all different. They have the 6m rule which is sensible. Its the location of the site which appeals to me more. A lot of CC sites are in great locations either in or near cities. Some are Race courses that look like you are parking in the car park, but in the centre of a great town. For instance Chektenham and Warwick are not picture perfect but with in walking distance. Then there Chatsworth house, Buxton, Bristol Warfe, York etc.

Not all CC sites are like that, some have character but all have the same regs! Some have really nice wardens others not so nice!

One year. A whole one!
No.

Black Knowl in the New Forest, one near Lowestoft on the beach (grass pitches near the entrance), Moreton-in-the-Marsh, Longleat...

We've come across a few that are very regimented. One in Cheddar springs to mind.

This isn't to say that non-CC sites aren't regimented as well. Many are. Each site is different.
