We will be driving down the new AP7 between Murcia airport and Mojacar Playa when our flight arrives at 2100 hrs in January, I understand that this will be 1.5 hours approximately, in the dark, are there any tolls on the AP7 on that stretch.?

Yes, I seem to remember several stops at toll booths, each one costing a few Euros....

As Bigtree says.. AP prefix is "Autopista Peage"... or "Always Pay" :)...
Spains not as bad as say France and often worth the cash to save time..

It is a toll road. One section on that road has the dearest toll in the whole of western Europe.
It is known locally as "the ghost Highway ", due to the absence of traffic as no one will pay the tolls. For a car it is 14,05 from Cartegena - Vera . You continue from Vera on the A7 (free) to Mojacar

Pity you can't hang on until after 1am as it goes to night rate then .:) 4,80€(y)

If your only going to use them once or twice a year then for the price go for it, however the Spanish avoid them as we do as can be expensive for daily use. The B roads are just as good, but busy.

To put Spanish tolls into perspective - when we drove in a 4x4 from Bilbao to Malaga last month (900km) it cost about €35 and we saw about 3 other cars all the way !!!
