Anyone planning a visit to Morella beware (1 Viewer)

Hi, just to warn anyone planning on travelling via Morella above Valencia. The road from Morella down to Vinaros on the coast is closed and the detour is horrendous on hairpin mountain roads, so I would recommend avoiding.

We've just returned from our travels. We did horrendous hairpin bends in north Pyrenees, north Spain, and as you say the ones behind the Costa . We topped it off with Andorra. Sure the bends can be hairy but Chris enjoys the drive and I do the "sound effects"

The best parts of the country are off the beaten track and Spain is the most mountainous country in Europe after Switzerland.

We found the Morrella aire to have deteriorated generally since our last visit. We parked so we could see the town illuminated and believe it or not some Frenchman parked straight across the ffont of us so he could cosy up to the hedge!!

Before Morella we visited the warm springs at Montenejus, brilliant.

Went for a ride on my bike up through the hills to Morella and when leaving came upon this diversion,it's a long square route to come back onto the N232. Not unpleasant,just looong. Should have said it was a pain in the ares because you go over the Coll d' Ares.

We did it yesterday, not much fun at all! Fortunately the roads were pretty empty. We are at camping Eden in Peniscola until tomorrow, then Valencia before Benidorm.

Not sure but it must be major as when we were in Tourist info in Peniscola the lady who was very chatty and had lived in the UK was saying about it being a big problem for tourism for Morella. I assumed it was major roadworks rather than for an accident.

Left Peniscola on Tuesday and stayed at Daimus for 3 nights,now at Calpe. Might ride down to Beni for the day sometime.

Had a look at this site on the internet. Cant believe they almost double the price when 2 people stop in a motorhome as apposed to one. Love to know how they figure that one out.

I don't think that price is correct. The basic price is €12 and then an extra €3 for electric. They are developing what looks like more of a campsite as well and there are a few people out there on bigger plots although there are no extra loos etc out there as yet so I wonder if that's it. Very confusing online I agree.
