I ask because I was stopped at an island on the inside lane ready to pull off. Along came a mh on the outside lane. Blow me down, he beat me and overtook me using the outside lane. I was a bit trapped in so he had chance to get on front.

Now my car is a fast Golf Cabriolet and I struggled to get past him again! He was /could have been doing 76 to 78mph which meant I had to really top the max allowed legal limit to pass him, ( I didn't as I don't like speeding).

I actually was jumping for joy because it was an Apache 700 (the type I have just ordered)!

So the big question is, I have his reg number, is it possibe find out what bhp engine he had?

For legal reasons, I'm not sure how accurate the speed was because my Mrs was reading the GPS and she was not wearing her reading glasses!

You have to enter the vehicle make, Auto-trail does not work or is not recognised. Google does recognise the plate, bought in Bristol 2014, gives the engine cc but not bhp

If Fiat and engine "cc" - if 3 litre then 180bhp. If 2.3l then 130 or 150bhp.

Thanks for the reply.

First registered 20th Oct 2014 and has 2287cc engine. So its a 130 or 150bhp. We have ordered the 150 so very impressed with the mh capabilities!!

Our last Auto trail Tracker and our current Hymer Exsis both have the 150 bhp engines and they are excellent plenty of power and torque

I have driven both the Fiat 130bhp and 150bhp. The 130bhp was in our Autotrail Tracker which was around 3650kg.

It pulled ok and "lugged" up the hills quite well in sixth. I found it a very relaxing engine to drive.

We have a 150bhp engine in our 3500kg IH and it goes very well. Pulling onto motorways and it gets up to speed faster than many cars think.

But I found the torque curve to be better on the 130bhp engine. I know what it says in the spec's but it just seems to dig in better at lower RPM.

I find on the 150bhp engine you need to keep it at above 2000rpm before it just drives up every hill. That often means driving faster than I like to.

We have a Ducato 150hp Euro 5+ PVC. It was very tight for the first 500 miles or so and needed gear changes down to 5th or occasionally 4th on motorway inclines to keep going. Only just over 2000 miles on it now, but most of that was done whilst touring in Scotland during which it loosened up nicely. Plenty of torque and I find it pulls nicely in 6th from well below 2000 rpm, including the pull up to Shap summit on the M6. I tend to keep at around 60mph (what's the rush) and so far have averaged 37 mpg. Very happy with the power and performance.

Having spent the best part of over a decade commuting weekly up and down the A303 I am staggered that speeds as reported by the OP can be achieved anywhere near Stonehenge on a Friday evening. :)

In a single word, "why"

We have a 130 3.5T low profile powered by a 130 5+. Goes pretty well for the weight it pulls, so far it has climbed up the heights going from Santander, managed effortlessly in the Estrella mountains and I'm not particularly light footed. In 6 months we have done almost 6k miles, average consumption around 29-30 mpg pottering about, 31 on a run (aircon on) and close to 33 with aircon off, all fully laden (and I do mean close to limits - with genny, spare gas, loads of baggage, etc)

My usual cruising speed on motorways is around 65MPH, around 2250 RPM, which I find a good balance in terms of speed/economy/handling/comfort. Probably explains why I have no penalty points on my licence

Didn't buy a M/H for racing, and I don't take Top Gear or The Grand Tour seriously, either. I get my speed kicks out of flying

Did you mean to include the receipt from Curry's? If you report the post to Jim he can delete it.

Now that a very rare sight! I don't think I've ever seen the A303 so quiet.
