    I'm pretty sure it's Greek. Threw me for a minute as its back to front, but then I realised the pic was probably taken in a mirror! But I'm afraid I don't read Greek! :(

    If we all have a go we might be able to make out the letters and then get a translation?

    Lots of heads probably better than one or two. If it isn't a standard sort of thing there may be a record somewhere.

    Best I can do so far and lots missing - even what I have could well be incorrect. The question mark means a character or characters I can't make out.

    ??? TE PONO KU KLi TE U ????
    TE KATO? Ki TE TUK??? I ? ?OE
    ?OE ?OA ?A ?? TE ?? TEA ? ??
    ?U?GA UTU MANAG ????

    Now it's reversed I can see it's not Greek. Any idea what nationality the guy is? I can't make out enough letters to translate any other words but one looks like 'mamag' which means 'light' in Cebuano, which is a Language from the Phillippines.

    Hi Gerri

    I am not sure what nationality he is. I thought he was English as his family have owned a local business for many years.

    I am just really curious as he is posing showing it off on Facebook.

    Might be Hawaiian. But that is just a pure guess.

    pono = kind of (like)
    ku kli= spikes or a spur

    Google translate helps. It is Maori.

    Fiddling around with it now.

    There's every chance on a tattoo that it doesn't actually say anything.

    I've just sent a copy of the pic to my Samoan rugby pal. He's from New Zealand so may be able to recognise it. He's playing in Japan now so may take a while to get a reply due to the time difference but I'm sure he'll help if he can. X
