Anyone gone from two to one liesure battery? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
I am about to change our leisure batteries - they must be due by now so have been 'comparing the meerkat' so to speak. I have been looking to replace 2 like with like 12v 110ah batteries - but was really thinking if there is any need for 2, as opposed to 1.
We always hook up when parked and the room, weight and cost savings would be a bonus with just 1.
Anyone run on just one, or replaced two for one? Any experiences? Regrets?

Yes I did on the old van, no problem. Our new van has only space for one , again no problem and we don't hook up very often, depends what you use it for spose. We do use the van in the daytime though, that keeps it charged for tv at night , water pump, lights.

If you really never go without hook-up there is no point in you having two batteries, just go for the smallest, lightest one you can find, 80ah would be fine.

if you always use hookup theres no point in having any batteries.
everything will run off your mains power supply/charger......the battery is only there to act as a buffer if you exceed the rated output of the charger.

If you hook up all the time, you are raving mad to carry two batteries!

Unless you have a Compressor fridge or a Truma combi heater/boiler or an Eberspacher diesel heater and you have a good Solar panel fitted you won't need 2 batteries so you can save on some weight. I have only 1 battery on my motorhome and we regularly rally off hookup no problem.

We've recently gone from 3 x 100 amps to 1 x 220 amps, however we are rarely on hook up, due to alternative power supplies. :thumb:

In our Elnagh we only had 1 85ah admittedly we had a solar panel but it was plenty and we weren't particularly conscious of saving power and never needed more. We lasted 3 days wild camping in the winter without any problems and running heating, 12v tv etc

When I bought the van I said to the dealer put another in and he said not worth it see how you go and especially as others have said if you're mostly on hook up wouldn't bother, save the weight etc

thanks for the info and recommendations - all taken on board.
Lucky to get hold of another 110ah that fits snug and all up and running. Really thinking about the solar panel now.
