I have a fantastic Asus TF101 Tablet with docking keyboard, its well built on the outside but its Android OS has long been outdated, it does not support any further updates, so I am looking for any ideas that can save it from being left to die in the drawer with mobile phones of years gone by.
It has OS 4.01....this does not appear to support addons and apps like KODI....so what use can it serve?

7 years followed by a break of 11 years and then 4+ years but given up now
See if you can get a Kindle app to run on it - I did with an old mini iPad that won't update any more.

I use my old TF101 in the workshop, my various service checklists are on it so rather than writing on paper I do the checklist on the tablet, then simply mail it to the office for printing out. I also use it for accessing Autodata online in the workshop.
It still works perfectly for spreadsheets, word processing etc.

Still selling for between £50 and £90+ on eBay, so don't let it go for a fiver at a Car Boot.

You can sell mobile phones of years gone by on eBay for spares and repairs. Some still have cult status, especially if they have a chrome case.

Musicmagpie takes old tech - even if you only get a small amount, or I think you can donate to charity?

Long time
I had an old Dell laptop that I didn't know what to do with-it had a virus that an "expert" was supposed to have sorted all he did was wipe everything off it!
I had to get my Apple laptop repaired, the place I took that to-very professional-gave me loads of free help so gave them the old Dell, they said they would pass it on to someone in need! Hope they did!

If the kit works, why worry about "updates". Quite often 'updates' simply bloat an app with useless features.
Use as you did before.
Only time I junk old kit is when the battery won't hold a charge.

*use for an old mobile... as a new dog owner was looking at getting one of these remote ipcameras to see what she gets up to when I'm not there [butter wouldn't melt] - so they range from about £25 upwards.
Yet there is an app for about £4.50
So use the obsolete phone as a camera, and monitor from new phone when out & about (y).

certainly is...

switch them to Cyanogenmod, brings it right back uptodate, and your TF101 is supported.

Its still android, but a different flavour of googles version
No longer supported, jellybean 4.3 (cm10) is the last update.

As has been suggested you could turn it into an ebook reader, or leave it in the van for wifi Internet browsing or stick a Copilot type app on it and use it as your sat nav. It can double up as a muggers trophy and maybe save your laptop ;)

Don't know if you are musical (or anyone you know is) but it would be much more useful for storing your music than having to hump loads of music books/sheets round with you. It doesn't require too much high level computing to file the data.

As already suggested, it will be fine with Kindle I think and also for general web surfing and emails. What more do need? :) Keep it as a back up but charge the battery from time to time.

We downloaded as many of the user manuals, diagrams and a service book for our motohome to an old Galaxy Tab tablet - which is then kept in the motorhome. Additionally, pdf of insurance certificate and contact details, maps and a couple of campsite Apps.
Therefore we have pretty much all documentation needed for the MH, without having to carry books / paper copies.

How about installing copilot and using it as a satnav?
Think you will find that CoPilot requires pretty up to date OS for it to operate.
I wanted to use my original iPad for CoPilot but it was too out of date, so had to use a newer iPad Mini. The tablet also needs GPS (or an external one added) to run navigation software.

Richard.
