I just wondered what species this bird might be? The photo could be sharper as it was at max zoom on my little digital camera yesterday, the more the zoom the more the camera shake unfortunately, and the wind didn't help. Habitat is fairly obvious! P1030986.JPG

I think it's a lesser spotted red tit.

Difficult to tell from the photo though.

I'm no expert but I think it's a well spotted red breast with legs up to its derrière

Going back to the original question, I would cast my vote for a Rock Pipit too.

Definitely is, first time I've ever noticed one TBH - pretty little thing. Think I'll get some bins and a guidebook to birds of Europe before my next trip.

The other one a few posts down I notice all the time, but they don't tend to notice me anymore!

I've actually got "Birds of Europe" by Lars Jonsson, which was in my late mums things cleared out of her room. It's got 2500 colour drawings and sure enough on page 366 is a perfect illustration of the bird in my picture (my first picture wink wink!), it's resident and its plumage is at its best in summer. The song described is what I heard too. Described as relatively common but unobtrusive. Good work people.
