    Hi
We had not done camping for about 10 years. Our son bought us a dolphin whale watch for one christmas & my wife chose Scotland -(only other options were Wales & Cornwall which had been to several times). We decided on camping to avoid taking the in-laws (wifes idea !!!). Tried a couple of week ends in Swanage & enjoyed it. only problem was that our tent was a low tunnel tent & we realised that the additional ten years made a big difference trying to get in & out.
We set off mid August last year. The weather could not have been windier or wetter but we perservered. :cry:We moved on every couple of days staring near Inverness & travelled up around the coast down to Glen Coe. The CCC site in Inverewe was 3 inches under water but we found another site further down. After one night at Glen Coe with similar weather we gave up & decided to come home (1 day short of a fortnight) The rain had stopped temporarily & I raised the sides of the tent to dry off. I popped over to the shower block/toilets & there was a couple there with an Autosleeper Symbol with an awning out. He was packed & ready to go within about 15min. We got chatting & the seed was sewn. :RollEyes:After a very wet & very windy camping holiday we got home & actually looked at a few taller tents but also looked at a few motorhomes. It was either a choice of £200 for a tent or several 000's :Eeek:for a motorhome. We decided that if we paid that sort of money then we would have to use it as often as possible. The motorhome won & took delivery of a new 'Autosleeper Dorset ES' at the beginning of Feb. It was not without issues (39 in total - another long story !!!) but these are now sorted out thankfully. Unfortunately in the first week we needed a new windscreen due to a stone hitting it. Also a new waste pipe as I had not clipped it back in correctly :Rofl1:(Started to wonder if we made the right choice) Anyway we perservered but we are still learning & have a lot to learn & now Loving every minute of it though :thumb: & look forward to the kind guidance from experienced motorhomers.

Welcome to motorhomefun Ian and Lyn.

There are lots of people new to motorhoming and those who have done it for years.

So ask away, someone always responds and dont forget to use the search facility as there is a wealth of information already on various threads and posts on the site.

Yes we certainly have a good variation in the South within a short distance. Problem is we also like the Mountains & cannot find many of them around here.!!!
