I`m a newbie
Just read the other thread about awnings for panel van conversions and it made me think about our van. We have a wind out style awning on the LeSharo and I would like to purchase a drive away awning, but here is the problem, we dont have a way to fasten the awning to the van(no gutter thingy), is there any awnings that we could get and fix on a different way?

Since 2005
many drive-away awnings have straps to throw over the top and secure at the other side.

but if your awning has a front rail with a groove, which it will have, then that is what you fix to with a figure 8 adaptor.

the adaptor fits in the groove then the awning slips into the other half of the figure 8.
to drive away you pull out the figure 8 from the end.
takes a bit of lining up on your return though to get it back in the correct place to refit the figure 8 strip.

I cant see any groove at all though, but there is a black/brown plastic strip across the front of the awning, maybe that is just a cover over the groove?
I will check tomorrow,
Thanks
Mark

Some old awning do not have any rail and I have seen J rail glued to the awning cap so a drivaway can be attached.

We just bought a Kampa awning (not driveaway) but its wider than the wind-out awning, so I stuck 4m of awning rail above it, works a treat
