if you read the article the apps are not on the googleplay store but are from china and you have to allow them acces to your stuff for the thing to work

But please note this only currently affects android because it has the biggest market share. IOS will be next. It is a socially engineered hack as it works by offering free commercial games or starlet porn. You have to manually download this from another location (not googles app store). Then you have to give the malware permission to access additional features on your phone.
So not only are you stupid enough to fall for free commercial software scam, you then give that scamware permission to access sensitive parts of your phone. The word dumbass springs to my mind.

Only idiots fall for this type of social engineering and I am sure there are as many idiots using IOS devices who will fall for this type of thing...... Only a matter of time oh:

Apple actually hosted a dodgy app on it's officially protected and tightly controlled app store over a year ago.. Fortunately it was by Charlie Miller the whitest of white hats.


Oh and on the tight control thingy.... Apple closed 197 security holes with IOS 6. Better upgrade as quickly as possible. Sorry that you will lose mapping that won't get you lost or possibly kill you... But an upgrade to 6 is recommended unless you want to get hacked.

Please note I am a platform agnostic type. I just find it amusing when people criticise other platforms when their own is just as bad.. Pick the platform that works for you..

Just a point, but you can't download an App. on an iPhone from a third party server.

But apple do allow naughty apps into their store.
