Looking for a site handy for Amsterdam. Prefer to leave the motorhome on pitch and get public transport in and to sites locally.

Any recommendations on sites.

What is the public transportation like.

Thanks,

Paul.

Hi there try this one we have used it in the past last time being Sept 13, its ideal for the city center. About 5-10 min walk from the gate you get a free ferry to central station and these run every 30mins and up until midnight.

The site is very secure you pay for your stay via a machine at the entrance which allows you 100L of water per day and you can opt for Elec or not, last time we used it the water carer reader wasn't working so just used what you wanted although 100L is a lot per 24 hour. When you pay its for 24H so if you arrive at 2pm you can stay until then next day.

Short walk to bus but you can walj into the centre if you want we did .
And we are not spring chickens.
Very helpfull staff.

P.S. if you go by bike to the centre use a bike park about €2 but you know its safe.

Still making mistakes! But they're not as costly.

Gaasper Camping is perfect! Metro station few minutes walk from gate, only takes 5 minutes and you are in city centre! We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Another one for Gaasper camping here, cheaper than Zeeburg and is in ACSI book (or was last year anyway).
Near to tram and bus network which is excellent in Amsterdam.

Cheers, John.

Have stayed at all of these at one time or another. Zeeburg is a short walk from a tram stop. It tends to be full of young people so can be quite lively. Gaasper is quite a way from the city but handy to get the Metro in.

Another for Gaasper camping, went there twice last year, easy trip on the metro into town, the area around Gaasper is a nature reserve and quite pleasant to trek around, a couple of good restaurants within walking distance and one on site, it gets my vote!

Used Zeeburg back in June 2013, could not fault them or the location.
10 min walk to the tram stop, or 15 min cycle in to Amsterdam. They even hire canoes so you could paddle in :)

Enjoy

5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
stayed at Zeeburg 3 times last year, wifi and leccy included in the price, good vibe in the summer not many people around in November tho .......Zeeburg looks cheaper than Gaasper off season.
