I'M A NEWBIE
I have just bought my 1st motorhome and find myself confused by the various ampages 10 amp, 3 amp ,16 amp on offer at various sites .
I have a 2012 Autotrail Ford Transit Tribute T625 and until we get used to using it we intend only to use the bigger sites with all facilities in the UK, and hoping to venture into France and Spain next year.
I've been looking at sites in the South West and Noticed that some sites offer 10 amp and other 16 amp .
My question is how will this affect me with regards to what electrical items I could use etc.

Basically the high the amperage supplied, the higher wattage appliances you can operate :

230v @ 6 AMP = 1380 Watts
230v @ 10 AMP = 2300 Watts
230v @ 16 AMP = 3680 Watts

Welcome.

Awesome!!!!!

Just think of it as all your power coming in one wire. How many multi blocks would you add to a single socket in the house?
TV. DVD. SKY. Surround. After that you know your starting to think this things gonna trip!

We got our first in November and are just about to hit Spain and France. Don't wait crack on.

The worst that can happen if you overload it is it trips at the EHU point - not a hugh problem, however can be embarassing if you do it too often and have to get the site staff involved to re-reset the trip everytime (been there, done that, got the t-shirt - husband very embarassed!) :blusher:

If you have manuals for your inbuilt appliances they may tell you the maximum wattage for each.
Main items will be charger and fridge so add together the watts and subtract from the above maximums for whatever the hook up amperage is.
This will leave the amount of power to spare.
Portable appliances such as kettle, toaster, TV etc will have a label stating their wattage.
Adding these to the first sum will show how close to the maximum you are getting and then decide if you need to turn off one appliance to be able to use another one....ie: turn off kettle to use toaster....to stay in limits.
Beware, a microwave may use twice as much as its output power when first turned on so may trip the breaker if on a low amp supply.

If the appliance gets hot, hairdryer, cooker etc, it is using a lot of amps. If only lights or fridge; only a few amps are needed.
