Thinking ahead to 2017,we are both still working so limited to annual leave. We want to take a longer break in Sept and the odd long weekend, which leaves us around 10 days which we are thinking of taking end May /early June.
Really like the look of the Alsace region,is ten days long enough??

If you've only got 10 days then you'll make the trip fit.
It's a good day's drive from Calais so you're there soon enough
    Enjoy your trip

Absolutely, we did a trip leaving Boxing Day mid-morning overnight at Hans Sur Lesse in Belgium and down into Baden-Baden the next afternoon back 2nd Jan. Strasbourg, Colmar, Mulhouse all worth a visit as are the wineries and Castles both sides of the Rhine. Plenty of little village, aires etc all around that region.

We stayed on a municipal site in Ribeville a few years ago right next to vineyards. We stayed there two weeks. We cycled through the vineyards to the little villages. Stopped off for "tipples and tasters" then wobbled our way back to the site through the vineyards!!!
    Very nice area.

I think Alsace is a perfect destination for a ten day tour, champagne region and Luxembourg would be obvious stopovers - enjoy (y)

We did it in 9 days from Calais to near Colmar in one day (a bit of a slog). Lots to look at a lot of wine tourism available if you look.

Thanks for the replies,it looks like ten days will give us enough time to get a feel for the area.
