Turned up in La Suze sur Sarthe yesterday knowing from the latest Aires book that MHs are no longer able to park on the riverside. Despite that, there was a MH parked on the riverside but we duly parked in the Aire adjacent and paid €5 for 24hrs. That evening two very affable Frenchmen came round to everybody parked there to explain that we would have to vacate the Aire by 9.30 as there were in 'improvements' and the road to the port would be closed but we would be very welcome to the go round to the 'new' Camping and Aire d'Accueill de Camping-Cars adjacent.

We had planned to stay at least 2 days to do some cycling so moved round the corner to the new site in the morning. Downside is it's double the price :Eeek: of the original Aire but the pitches are huge!! You can get as many awnings, tables, chairs and washing lines on there as you like:LOL:

Also plenty of EHU points and water taps. Showers and loos if you want them. We had paid an extra €2 for the privilege by mistake! Obviously pressed the wrong button  Grey and black waste outside the gate.

Gate near the original Aire by the port to walk to town.

Not sure what will happen to the original Aire :(

Thanks for the info. Turned up on this aire last year when it was 39c in mid July. Parked in the aire section under the willow tree. Oh joy..........
The money was collected from the guy who runs the private ? site on the other side of the fence.
Used on the way home as well. Lovely town and good walk for the dog to the lock.
Looks like La Fleche this year will be used again providing it's not market day!

The attraction for us was that the old aire overlooked the river.
Where is the new one in comparison and are there any views?

Richard.
