Alko Chassis Corrosion (1 Viewer)

The Alko chassis on my 2007 chassis is showing signs of corrosion, mainly where a towbar was originally fitted, now removed.

Advice needed please about how to deal with it. Do I just rub the rust down and coat with something like Hammerite, or do I need to use some special paint?

You can buy galvanising spray at most electrical wholesalers....and other outlets I'm sure.

Not as effective as hot dip galvanising but bettet than paint in my opinion.
Maybe need a couple of coats to cover fully but dries in half an hour.
Rub down first but not between coats...just recoat when the first is just touch dry or tacky.

It's used for treating cable installation tray after cutting to length.

Yes as John said a cold galv spray
Just rub all the loose off first.
Galvanising is a sacrificial coating to save the steel so just keep on top of it

Brush will get a thicker coat but spray will get into inaccessible corners.
Any bits missed will just rust even more spreading under the good galvanised finish.

Once the original galvanising is compromised it will be a constant maintenance job.

Trouble with brush on galv is all the zinc sinks to the bottom of the tin and no matter how much stirring the mix is inconsistent
Multiple costs of spray are much better IMHO
