Also depends on mileage limit (if any) and number of days allowed outside the UK.

I went for 3000 miles, didn't really have a clue as it's our first motorhome.

Mickey.
3000 miles might be very limiting if you are retired and wish to use you van throughout the summer. If you travel to Scotland to do the NC 500 for instance, you could clock up 1500 miles alone.......from Newmarket.

If you are only going to use your van locally at weekends 3000 would be plenty.

I traded a 3 year old van with more than 17000 miles covered so i would keep a sharp eye on your mileage.

Thanks @Bobby22 , I haven't fully retired yet, I work (driving) the summer and have the winter off, I'll know a lot more this time next year as to how much mileage I'll need.

We are with AIB.. I have the Lotus with them too.. They were very good and professional. With regards mileage we asked for 10k as a yearly amount.. We get breakdown cover on our 5T MH, and the obligatory 180 cover etc etc.. Both myself and K driving..

So far we have done 9,800 miles in 1 year.. and we are off to France early am tomorrow... Likely to be about 11,500 when we get back.. Renewal 1st March..

That's a good price for what you get on first motorhome.
I think I'll get a quote from them with a bit more miles.
I think I'll do 6000 in the 1st year

Breakdown includes home start, nationwide recovery, Europe 180 days and no restrictions for height and length.

I have not insured for legal cover for years and years now. With the cars, bikes (vintage and modern) and motorhome policies I have saved thousands over the years.

I think it was around £25 a year for the motorhome.

I also don't protect my No Claims bonus and when I had the claim on the motorhome it only went up about a fiver the following year.

All insurance is based on someone making a few quid. I just self insure for these items. :)(y)

That's fair enough but it's good to have if you get in a legal dispute.

It's usually a cheaper add on to buildings or contents insurance in my experience.

A boundary dispute or something could easily cost £25k.

Just my suggestion/ recommendation(y)

I would be a fool not to heed a suggestion/recommendation. Will research and perhaps change my ideas. Thanks @Chris :D
