I think its very unlikely that the powers to be will change the weight restrictions.
Over time any vans over 3500kg will become less desirable and a bit of a niche market just as RVs over 7500kg are now
No idea how soon that will start to impact on second hand prices.
May be one of the reasons there are more PVC appearing on the market from various manufacturers ?

Well our motorhome is over 3500kg so was looking at speed limits for them got a surprise about UK speed limits instead of being 3500kg the higher speed limit is for vehicles UNDER 3050kg

and as for prices ÂŁ28995 for a 2007 model is still a little high but not overly expensive

3050Kg UNLADEN (unladen weight specified by base vehicle manufacturer before conversion). I suspect all 3500Kg max MHs fall under 3050 unladen.

Hmm I didn't read it as unladen will have to go back and re read it
anyway as ours is over 3500 got to go slower on dual carriageways Strange very strange that allowed to go faster on motorway but not dual carriageways

Also under 3050 kg can use the overtaking lane ( fast lane). Unless I'm mistaken.

John.

Assuming you're referring to 3 or more lane motorways, you're not mistaken, but so can over 3050kg. The restrictions kick in at 7500kg, unless I'm mistaken.

Speed limits on over 3500kg motorhomes seem daft to me too and have little bearing on safety reasons..
We are in Spain at the mo and there the motorway limit is 90Kph, same as trucks.
Overtaken by two huge coaches yesterday which could be carrying 40 people each.
Why is it safer for them to go faster than us with just 2 on board?

Richard.

Re above the UK goverment thought about reducing coach speed to same as trucks, but lobbying by coach operators, that this would increase journey times and fares made the goverment have a rethink
