Just joined, we are looking at buying our first motorhome. Had a test drive in a Lunar Champ A521 Fiat 2.0 jtd 2007. It felt quite sluggish when pulling away. Does anyone know if this is normal for a 2 litre. Would it be under powered say if we went up the scottish highlands for example. Does anyone have any experience of this model ?

Thanks Allan22

Walk away and choose something with some guts. If you are looking at pre x250 then a 2.8 Fiat or Peugeot will have all the power you need for the Scottish Highlands, they are very good engines.

Thanks for that, I was thinking along them lines just wanted other opinions. Do you think the remapping option is worth looking at to increase fuel consumption and power ?

Try test driving one with a more powerful engine like the 2.8 turbo diesel, Scotland is a pleasure with that.

I have a Fiat Scudo van with the 2.0jtd engine in it
Its awfully sluggish and thats just a 2 tonne van, I cant imagine how slow it would be with a motorhome body
Now on the other hand I have a Tribute 2.3 multi jet motorhome
<---see pic here
and you only need to tickle the throttle to get her moving
