just got off the phone to adrian flux about my motorhome renewal, been with them 6 years and in all that time i have no NCB,and my renewal was £432 fully comp.
so i ring sureterm and got it for £277.62 with better cover and wiil start getting NCB.
when i asked A-F why i got no NCB was told motorhomes are specialist vehicle,s and not every one will insure them?
took great pleasure in phoneing A-F back and telling them to stick their renewal up their arse.

i also mentioned motorhome fun.

cheers chris

As newbies we rang 3 companies - caravan guard, safeguard, and sureterm.

i found safeguard and sureterm were very similar, and caravan guard a little more expensive. Safeguard did not seem to have any problems taking my NCD.

Unfortunately that seems to be their attitude nowadays.....

Glad you avoided them and got a better deal in the process....

Maybe one day they'll learn.

Yup, AF seem to have gone up this year, I've just moved to NFU, didn't save as much as you  but a sniff over a £100 is better in my tank than thier pockets.

Well in AF's defence they were prolly insuring motorhomes when everyone else wasn't and they will have arranged their schemes accordingly - like classic vehicles? you get agreed value, limited mileage cos they know you don't use it all the while, and a cheap price at the time, but the trade off is you get no official NCD. Orpay more with someone else and do get NCD. Please yourself LOL

These days I'm afraid, you do need to shop round every flipping year to get the best deal.

(I mean our daughter is onto a loser because she lives in a bad postcode. Where she actually lives is quite nice! Just somewhere in that postcode obviously isn't.)

after six years with A-F i had no NCD to take to another insurer thats what p*ssed me off more, and the fact i missed it on previous renewel's.
so partly my fault.
note to oneself pay attention to when renewing insurance, and dont just let them DD it every year without checking, off to get the wife to kick me around the garden so i remember next year.

Are you are 14 year old bank robber with an asbo or something???

Try Frank Pickles - they average around £150-200 fully comp.

Hi,

When we bought our motorhome last September, we rang around several companies, and found that Sureterm offered to mirror the full NCD that I had on my car insurance, whereas others quoted only the full premium.

We've been with Saga since buying the van in 2006. Just got the renewal notice and tried NFU Mutual after seeing recommendations on here. NFU price isn't a lot less but switched to them because we will be able to add business use from time to time if we wish. That was not an option with Saga.

Just rang Adian Flux, they have increased my insurance by 8%...

They now want £302.20, I advised them that Dick Turpin wore a mask and suggested they had another go, she asked me about my alternative quote, she wanted to know which company I was thinking of going to...

A typical ShiftZZ answer, None of your business..
They have agreed to review and advise me of any changes they can make...

I am not holding my breath

No wonder they have such nice offices

had the same problem with AF.

they said because the NCB was mirrored off my car it didnt earn any accumulating NCB in its own right.

makes sense i suppose

shield direct dont do ncb anymore, they used to, but changed underwriters, they also dont offer limited mileage anymore either,

i farted about looking for better quotes this year, nfu mutual were good at first, but when i questioned the actual levels of cover, asking for figures to be written down, they got really evasive, this was face to face in the local office, they also wouldent give me something in writing saying the smart on the A-frame was covered, just something very vauge which was open to interpritation i felt.

and i was asking about insuring both the motorhome and the car with them, as the A-frame cover can only be on the car, not the tow vehicle.

So i ended up going to comfort for the smart as they do put it in writing that cover is there when it's on tow via an a-frame, and that the modifcations done for the a-frame bracket and brake mods are covered.

their motorhome policy also seemed better than shields, mines a self built van, so i needed a specific self build policy that actually covers the whole conversion,

nfu i eventually found out were quoting on the value of the panel van before conversion, i.e. 2 tenths of naff all, and it's a coachbuilt with a 7 grand body built by a profesional coachbuilder.
and even with an engineers report and valuation said they wouldent cover it for the full value of items in it.

We also have commercial fleet insurance with Axa who had insured our Conversion van (thank you Axa ) with no probs , but have now stated to us with this new to us m/h that they dont insure motorhomes any longer.... which is big expensive pain in the butt :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Just watch the quality of service from SAGA.

Allegedly, from the articles I have read from insurance company reviews ......:Eeek:

They could not do me a good deal.

If it works for you....Great. Have you made a claim on the insurance yet?

Not wishing to start world war 111, This subject was also covered earlier in the year under the post of " winnebago insurance " .

However my point being, a lot depends on the information you supply , me for instance through ADRIAN FLUX have an American RV with 5000 limited mileage, parked off road and a value of £15000.

Remember that Adrian Flux is also a broker not an insurance company.

Previously I had been with SAGA for 16 years with all the families vehicles. However when I wanted to upgrade to an USA RV the answer was no way. So I searched for the best deal at the time for me.

My policy is with TRINITY LANE INSURANCE COMPANY, with NCB,with Full Recovery at an all in price of £321.49 which I find quite agreeable especialy as I have already tried out there Breakdown Service last year. I was stuck in the centre of Great Dorset Steam Fair unable to select a gear, The Breakdown chaps were there within 30 mins of my call.

So I think the phrase Horses to coures comes to mind, i.e. You get what you pay for and I will stay with the company that responds when I need them.

as you say you get what you pay for,or in my case more for less.
60 days euro cover.
windscreen cover.
£5,000 personal effects cover
£100,000 legal cover
Breakdown cover, also covered with the AA
£2,000 cover for awnings and gas bottles
will now get NCD,did not with A-FLUX
on a value of £18,000,parked off road with cat 1 alarm fitted.£200 excess.
all for £277.62, AND THATS £53 cheaper than last year:thumb:

This Adrian Flux company seems to pick 'n choose just who, what, and when they insure. Obviously they are making so much money, new customers and business are simply a pain they wish would go away. One day they will........permanently!

Three years ago when I rang them for a quote I was totally gobsmacked by their response.

"We don't insure motorhomes"!!

Beat that one if you can!!:Wacko:

I cannot think of any one reason why a company today would respond in such a manner, particularly given the current situation with many businesses closing down. No company can possibly afford to have an employee turning customers away.

I work for business which is global, the second largest defence company in the world with a turnover in billions, yet any employee with that kind of grossly negative telephone manner would quite simply be dismissed.....instantly!

I do believe that NFU have or did have unless they have cleared up there act, different Branches that would insure American RV's and others who wouldn't
