I have a Elecsol 125 carbon fibre battery and was thinking of adding another
I also have a 100w solar panel.

Can I buy another matching battery.......( the one I have must be less than 18 months old ) or is it better to have a new matching pair.

Im sure I read somewhere that you should start again with 2 new ones ?????

Idealy Barry you should start with two identical batteries in age and everything else.............If you don't , the older unit will drag the new one down as it deteriorates

In theory...Yes....however, in your case, a new battery of the same size and type should be fine.

Is that because its relatively new?
Certainly buying one is going to be a lot cheaper.

Yes! Assuming your current battery is in good condition and only 18 months old it's a perfectly reasonable match.

if you really want to get picky....no two batteries of identical make and age will have exactly the same internal resistances anyway, so why worry ?

My RV has 4 different makes and aged batteries and copes quite well :thumb:
