Hi everyone ,I have made the mistake of reading the the manual for my new mh now I know real men don't read instruction but I was bored and I have come across the section headed Adblue ,my questions are where do I buy it in small quantity s and then on a fiat Ducato when will I know it wants some . Another question would be if I ran out on the road would it do damage to anything or do I have to carry some with me ?

Pfft, you've gone down in my estimation now Howard. Reading an
instruction book? What was it, boredom, telly broke? Man up and do something useful with your life like go to the pub or sumfink!:xrofl:

I thought the only talk of Ducato and adblue was maybe for Euro 6 engines due mid 2016 ??
Or have i missed something..

Either way more bloody hassle.. Think I will go backwards and get a Euro 4... Blinking DPF / EGR :xangry:

Adblue is for the emissions system on HGV s, if your Ducato uses it there will be a tank on your vehicle to fill with adblue and the emissions system will use it when required, it can be bought from most petrol stns in 10 ltr cans.

Living the dream.
AdBlue is a high quality urea solution that is easy to use. AdBlue is the registered trademark for AUS32, or Aqueous Urea Solution 32.5% that is used with the Selective Catalytic Reduction system (SCR) to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from the exhaust of UK diesel vehicles.

I do not think you have made a fool of yourself! I was reading a road test of a mercedes based Hymer ML-I580 in Which Motorhome. To quote "with 4784 miles on the clock, the merc decided it needed its second drink of AdBlue in our tenure." So its coming!

Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
We have new Ford Transit mini-busses at school and the Adblue side has been a nightmare. Our local Ford people knew even less than we did when warning messages started popping up.
The messages warn that the engine will shut down in xx miles.
We have now got the stuff to top up. But we did discover that the tank holding the stuff takes 21 litres and it ain't cheap.

If you look where the hgv fuel is at a service station there is normally a pump for ad blue where you could buy it by the litre save carting a can of the stuff around. Probably the same price as in a can.

Thanks for this thread ... now I know what Adblue is for when I see it at fuel stations ... I always wondered if it was an 'alternative' to normal diesel as it's cheaper! :xgrin:

Another something to cost more and give more problems from what i can see :(
Already had DPF sensor issues with my 2012 Euro 5 engine..
Had issues with a diesel Zafira, will never buy another diesel car...

I think i will wait for a petrol engined motorhome to come out .:xThumb:

The 'last' UK production MHs that I'm aware of that had petrol engines were the Pioneer range I think with Peugeot engines, probably around the year 2000.

I have to use it with my Mercedes-engined Hymer. A 4-pint bottle from my MB dealer costs ÂŁ6 and they tell me that I will not affect the vehicle warranty if I use another brand (It's widely available at Shell service stations).
As for engine damage, my Merc will go into limp mode if the AdBlue level gets too low.

Adblue whoever invented the system wants shooting, first problem people putting it in the fuel tank (injectors / pump m-prop renewal),
next lines blocking when it crystallized often leading to new pumps or a clean out (not cheap) and just to top that it's nasty stuff poison through the skin. Please don't believe the rumor that you can use water instead unless you have a few grand to spare.

The sooner we go back to petrol engines in motorhomes the better .
But won't that just mean a decrease in diesel particulates and an increase in petrol carbon monoxide in exhaust gases ie. Swapping one dirty exhaust for an equally bad one.
The result will probably be an Adblue for petrol engines

Had one of customer's operators accidentally brim his diesel tank on his forklift with ad blue.
New pump and injectors required!

Then a month later, he did it again!:xdoh:

Ok let the humiliation and ridicule begin,my mh does not have a adblue system fitted there I said it .In my defence the hand book says it has so there are mitigating circumstances,so crack on funsters I can stand it:xgrin::xrofl:
I guess it may be fitted for certain markets, such as California.
