Had another look. The german word translated here as "residence" is "Wohnsitz", which is the town/city where you live.

Hi,

I'm really glad that people are starting to take an interest in just what ADAC are offering and what the pit falls may or may not be, as you are aware I have joined ADAC and posted a couple of translated documents on this site for download.

But it has worried me that while the translated documents are best endeavours i would still welcome people to study them deeply as I would hate anyone to be in a position that leaves them without the cover they thought they were getting.

I really had second thoughts earlier in the year when travelling in Europe that I really didn't understand fully just what cover I had, and I have gone through the translations time and time again, but there is still that nagging doubt what does the small print actually meant as I can't read German, as we all know the UK small print often has a sting in the tail if you don't study it fully.

As I mentioned earlier in another reply, breakdown cover is an insurance that you hope you never need to call upon, and while I'm reasonably sure ADAC provide very good value for money, I'm not totally sure money/cost of, should be an overriding factor in making a decision, I think piece of mind knowing you totally understand what you are getting and what you aren't getting, are far more important than the cost.

Hope that helps

I've been a (UK based) ADAC member for 5 years or so for normal car cover. I find them very efficient. I've only had to put them to the test once, though. The clutch cable on the main car went as I was pulling out of the drive. I went to work in the 2nd car and sent them an e-mail on arrival asking if I was covered to hire a car. Within 20 minutes I had a chap from Munich on the phone speaking perfect English to me. He'd rung home and got my work number from my wife.
As it was, the local garage sorted it out very quickly (unusual!) and I didn't need the ADAC any further, but the speed and efficiency of their response was amazing. And all that for 79.50€ per year for plus membership. And there's no vehicle age limit.

Have been a member of ADAC plus for somtime now and have used them a few times in the UK but never abroad. The AA came to my rescue here in the UK and I had the same service as I would have had if I had the top priced policy with them.Personaly I cannot find anything on the internet to come anywhere near there prices, especialy for older, larger vehicles.Would recomend them personaly, which is somthing I rarely do.

Hi, I can't reply as I no longer subscribe, the file that I translated is still on the system and you are welcome to download it, thats the problem with having a subscription people like me posted freely to this site but are now blocked. I'm sure this post will get deleted but there are plenty of good sites out there that are free and you can obatine the same or similar information.

Was the question around the limit of €200 for recovery ever answered satisfactorily?

I'm quite keen on the cover, but not if I have to pay for everything above €200.

how did you pay by CC John?

Got my membership card through yesterday.

C Card not even debited yet.

John how did you pay by credit card? when I spoke to ADAC this morning to take out membership they would not accept a card at all. They bill and you have to pay by Iban transfer to there bank.

They are sending me the membership pack ..due within 10 days for the membership to start on 1st March 2011... I have an allowance due to being disabled /wheelchair user .. total for Sue and myself for all the European cover was euro 68.30 .. now that is not bad...

I certainly will not be renewing the AA this year which is £113.00

Mainly want the cover to do tire issues when in Europe .. while I have Safeguard this is not covered.

Very efficient service.. oporator spoke first class english...well worth the call to Frankfurt.

Thanks for all who gave info as this allowed me to decide to take oput membership.

I paid by credit card when I joined and then renewed by credit card last December.

There appears to be a separate number for card payments. I rang the info line number when I got the renewal and the lady took my card details but then said that she would send them to Munich. I wasn't sure about this and rang a few days later to check if the membership had been renewed - surprise, surprise it hadn't, so I was then given this number to ring and it was done instantly over the phone.

Just because I'm naturally suspicious - I rang to double check a few days later and it was confirmed we were sorted!

The number is ... 00 49 (0) 89 7676 6643 :thumb:

I received my membership card to day.. 15 days to the day as they said..efficient Germans for you.

I will call the the Munich telephone number Monday and try to pay for it with a credit card.. If not I will have to do an IBAN payment or like John send my card details to them.. When I ordered the card (membership) I called the Frankfurt number.. In the pack is the Munich telephone number...

Let you know how I get on

I joined a few weeks ago, they are happy to take your credit card details over the phone. I have telephoned on three occassions and all three telephonists spoke very good english and handled my problems immediately.

Hi been reading these posts with interest as am trying to find breakdown cover for our renault master, thought green flag was going to be ok but they only do 90 days europe in total in any one year and another company stop at 5.1 mtrs length. Other usual suspects are very expensive and have silly limits. So do ADAC have any limit to the length of trips outside uk? Ta.

Not that i know mate, do be honest cant remember any limit on travel times outside the UK, limits 10m lenght, 3.2m high. 7.5t gvw + any twin axle trailers anywhere in eec with recovery back to your home address in the UK. cant be better than that ha, and at $93 euros you cant go wrong and that includes car hire as well and worldwide health insurance as well. regards Garry flatpackchicken
