Been searching for breakdown cover for Europe, want it for 4/5 months. Looked at loads of threads on here about it and thought Adac would be best, went on there website to have a look and it says you have to live in Germany. What do other people use and how do you join Adac living in the UK.

We have UK and EU cover as part of our insurance from CaravanGuard. Don't know who they use though other than it's an HGV specialist. They did tell me but I can't remember.

Lots of threads on here re Adac.

Ask for English speaking staff and have credit card ready.
Have a look resources section here for a reasonable translation of the Adac plus terms and benefits

You can certainly join Adac whilst living in UK and they are brilliant value for money, however they have a maximum time of 92 days. I think you will struggle to find one that will cover you for 4/5 months.

I used that number & just asked for an English speaker.
I started mine from 1st July , rang on 23rd June, & paid using iban /bac as the lady suggested as cc adds another 4€ Everything arrived on Wednesday this week.
Excellent for 109€.

I have suggested this on here before, but no one seemed to take it up, why not just get one that runs for 90 days then start another one after, I know it might cost more but seems simple enough to me.

Thanks for that what do people do when they go away for longer than 3 months. It seem mad that they will cover you for three months but no more, what difference does it make to how long your away.

Where does that come from?

I have been a member for several years and spend nine months of the year on Continental Europe, as far as I am aware there are no trip limits because it is European cover.

Certain benefits are only available to residents of Germany. and there are size restrictions.

Sorrry - just checked the handbook again and it looks as though the 92 days only relates to cover related to injury, accident or death!. I suspect there is no limit for breakdowns.

We have 365 day UK & Continental breakdown with our Comfort Insurance Policy. Limit 180 days stay in any one country other than UK in a year. Over that you run into residency problems. They use RAC commercial for our vehicle and it works a treat as I have found out both at home or abroad.

You run into residency problems after 90 days. !83 days is for tax residency & the two are completely different.

Adac, Great cover, I give them money every year, never use them, never want to. Both of us covered any country, any vehicle, for me no better value for money.(y)
Yes same here !

Done a bit
Sorry if I'm re-hashing an old post but thought that I should contribute my recent experience. Just phoned ADAC after reading all the positive comments on here, transferred to a nice English speaking lady and after explaining that I was going to split my time 6 months UK and 6 months EU was advised that I would have to return to the UK after 90 days away from our residence, which would then reset us for another 90 days away. I know that that is not what many forum members have experienced but I can only comment on what I was told :(. Back to Google!

After reading the RAC EU cover T&Cs and finding that it's limited to 90 days single trip limit, I emailed Michael at ADAC (at worst I might as well get a better, cheaper 90 days than the RAC) to try and get a definitive answer on whether they are also limited to 90 days. I'll post again if I get an answer.
