Since the Christmas group left we have continued to be active with the remaining Funsters! (No jokes here!).

We took Armytwowheels and Sid James out on their mountain bikes. We were joined by a very fit, very tall, very friendly, Dutch man.

We set off at 10 am and within 5 minutes we had to stop for me to cough my guts up (almost). I've had a virus for almost two weeks. We set off again for Colin (SJ) to say his cleat on his shoe had broken. Shoe repaired and off again for Colin to then say he didn't know where the Motorhome keys were!
He and the friendly Dutchman retraced the route right back to the camperstop where they found the keys still in the Motorhome door! They caught up with us again and then Martin had a flat tyre on his bike. Tyre pumped up but deflated again. The friendly Dutchman stayed with Martin to repair it whilst we continued slowly up hill. They caught up with us and then we continued our 4 hour ride without further mishap!

Having a break (together) once the ride got started!

When we returned to Totana the Funsters Jenben had arrived. They parked their van and came for lunch with us.

The following day we took them for a road ride. A2W and SJ were doing Admin work. On returning Jenben found that their fridge was defrosting so SJ was called upon for his expertise. Solution found and wine and cheese enjoyed by all!

The next morning took us all on a walk with a (caravanning) friend!

We walked up to the statue of Jesus that can just be seen from the camperstop (lit up at night). We then descended to the sanctuary of La Santa, before continuing our walk to finish for a meal at Venta La Rata (again!)

This now brings us to yesterday. We took Jenben on a road ride up to Aledo. We diverted through the Estrecho de Algualeja, a cañon near Aledo

More photos can be seen on my blog.

After this visit we went to Aledo to visit the tower.

And the church.

We then had a nice downhill ride back for a beer and a barbie!

Today was forecast to rain :party2:(Spanish rain dance) so Martin and Mr. Jenben did a bit of work on my cyclocross bike to fit a new cassette to make it easier to ride uphill. They did this in the kitchen!

Later we're going shopping to buy food for a barbie tomorrow with A2W and SJ, Jenben and the Friendly Dutchman and his wife before they leave to continue on their travels. Photos of the party may follow tomorrow!!!

We only turned up to see in the New Year - 20 days later we reluctantly leave the campstop to make our way to Morocco.

The place is a county lovers dream. If you like activities such as walking, cycling or running, it doesn't get much better. Even the walks come in easy, medium and downright (should have bought a rope) difficult grades. The cycling can be flat along the canal road, hilly roads or seat of the pants stuff, flying down narrow gravel tracks with hairpin bends, off road. Best of all there is a good restaurant just down the road that is just right aft a full day of activity.

A big thank you to Angel and Paula for creating such a great place to stop. A massive thank you to Judith and Martin for making us so welcome and taking us on some truly great walks and cycle rides, oh and a couple of shopping trips! We will definitely be back for more.

:merci:

Glad you enjoyed yourselves here after your first few lost days. We hope you make return visits, there are still plenty of routes, both walking and biking, for us to show you.

Enjoy Morocco and the rest of your trip.

Tomorrow will see the departure of Jenben, we will ourselves be departing Totana for a few weeks, our Orienteering season kicks off this weekend, so we need to go North for a race, then off into Portugal to assist in the staging of an international 4 day competition.
The camperstop visitors who require assistance in walking and biking routes will need to ask our neighbours or other motorhomers who may be able to point them in the right direction.
Self guided walking information will be available for anyone who requires it.

Sad to finally leave camperstop Sierra Espuna after another wonderful visit. Our friends Martin and Judith made us so welcome we found it difficult to pack up and head off.
As armytwowheels has said in her post above its a great spot for cycling and walking and just making new friends.
Thanks once again to @jumartoo and @jumar.

Hi here from the very friendly Dutch man and his wife! We had a great time at the Camperstop and still talk about the barbecue and the lovely afternoon and evening we had. It was very hard to leave, but since we had to work (!!!!!) it was time to go.

We stayed two nights at the campsite in La Vila Joiosa which was nice and then home in a day or four. Here at home we often talk about are stay in Totana and will do our very best to come at the end of this Year.

Love from Wilfried and Yvonne

Hey you two. What a surprise to hear from you. Very happy that you enjoyed your time in Totana. We have had some very good bike rides since you left! Bet you wish you were still here!

We will look forward to you coming here again and will take you out on more good tracks. Bring your Co2 cylinder with you!!!

Hey Wilfried. Lovely to hear from you.

Yes that was a lovely couple of weeks at the Camperstop, made better by the great company! We hope to be back there in a few weeks time.

Say hello to Yvonne for me.

Cheers

You didn't mention the ride to Aledo being UPHILL all the flippin way! (even harder with little wheels and only 3 gears )

However, once there I was able to do what I usually do best................... NOT take myself too seriously!

A little 'Spanish Phoon' action was a must
