Change of direction - I own a mini-laptop (netbook) which I take touring. The netbook does not have a DVD drive, so I have asked ACSI whether I can transfer the data from my main computer or are there copy-protection systems in place to stop this. I will keep you posted, because I guess netbooks are popular with with MHers.

Well it certainly won't if it's a Linux one.
Nor will it if it's windoze and doesn't have loads of space.

But it does fully install on a normal PC.

Thanks - it has Windows 7 as its OS, and quite a decent HDD capacity.

Would it load onto an 8 GB SDHC card via a laptop, the card could then be used on the net book card reader.

Yes, that is what I was hoping, but I am not sure whether any copy-protection built in to the DVD would stop that happening.

The 2008 one is only 2.75G and does not appear to be protected.

I guess at this price and with it's target market they don't need to go to that expense.

I have an earlier copy of the DVD and have successfully installed it on both PC and laptop, no worries.

probably won't bother to load onto new net-book since I'm more than happy with just the discount set of sites and their tomtom refs which are / were ? available from the website.

a quick flick through the new book shows that our favourite sites are still there - and we supplement these with municipal sites - which for some reason tend not to join the discount scheme -

roll on June

"Reported confusion, ACSI inspects over 9000 campsites every year and many display the ACSI logo, but it is only the 1891 in this year’s guide that offer a discount. ACSI also produce a DVD campsite guide that lists 8600 campsites including the ones in the discount camping scheme but does not need to be bought to support this guide."
"Who should buy the ACSI Camping Card
The Camping Card scheme is ideal for anyone travelling in Europe this year. Whether you exclusively pitch up at campsites or just occasionally like to pit stop the ACSI Camping Card scheme will save everyone money and enable you to enjoy your holiday to the full. Anyone travelling to Italy should have a camping card as Italian overnight pitch fees are expencive" [sic]
if anyone is still struggling with simples

Come on guys, let's not spoil a good thread with unnecessary squabbling! Without wanting to take sides, the 2009 Campingcard guide was reported to have sold out. If it was not good value, the 2010 will not sell out, I guess.

I have copied the 2009 one to my netbook, no problem, no protection.::bigsmile:

However I haven't received my 2010 copy yet and it seems everyone else has

think there's some confusion between book n dvd - again,
the discount guide was scheduled for 8th Dec and has come a couple of days early
I think the all singing and dancing dvd is due later this month - [I think  not sure]

check your e-mail confirmation of the order - then 'hassle' your supplier :roflmto::winky:

Just to confirm other posters comments in reply to my question about installing on a computer that has no DVD drive, ACSI responded today:

To install the ACSI Camping dvd on a computer without a dvd-drive you have to copy the whole dvd-disk to a usb-drive and install the application from there. There is no copy-protection.

As we are on ACSI, has anyone had any difficulties regestering on the ACSI site to download the GPS co-ordinates for the sites. I have tried but not received an activation e-mail.

no problem when I re-registered the other day - but the 2010 TomTom info not yet available apparently
don't mean to be picky but did you double check your e-mail address when you posted it, I've an awful habit of hitting the 'comma' when it should be 'full stop' and it's not easy to spot

Pretty sure I have done it correctly, sent them an e-mail to see if they can sort it out.

7 Years after 5 years with caravan.
I've just come off the phone to Vicarious Books. Talked to Charlie and ordered the DVD (£11.99). She confirmed that it will become available in January. Free P&P 2nd class mail.
