CL (certified location) is a private camp site affiliated to the caravan club and can take just 5 units at a time.

CS (certified site) is the same as above but affiliated to the Camping and Caravanning club...they will also take unlimited tents

    CCCS...no ideas

Aires are French stopover sites run by villages etc on a first come first served basis....some have water, dump and electric (free or by token), some have nothing, some have one or more of the above.
some are free, some make a small charge per night.
the German equivalent is a Stellplatz

they are not camp sites and on no account set up camp with chairs and tebles etc.

You think the world of camping is bad for acronyms, you should try the strange and wonderful world of local government, I haven't got a clue what they are talking about in most of the meetings I go to!!

When I joined Teesside County Borough in 1970 I was Told that was the case but never found out one way or the other. I was also told that the Durham County equivalent was L.A.B.O.U.R. P.A.R.T.Y.
