List of things I am not worried about

Driving on the wrong side
Drinking the water
Crapping in a hole
Paying some old dear to crap into a hole
Getting robbed
Getting gas attacked
Getting lost
Finding lpg point
Finding water

The thing I am bricking it about is

LEAVING THE 3 DOGS WITH THE 17 YEAR OLD:ROFLMAO:

Don't worry

If I where you I would not worry I feel safer in France than I do here. Me and the wife have been about ten times in total and the trouble I have had is none. Don't listen to all the tails you here on here just go do as you do in this country and you will be fine. Just don't stay overnight on any motorways and observe the places you stop and you will be fine. All I can say go and have a good time the people are great and so is the country. Have fun:thumb:

Just don't go mate.. is way too dangerous these days...

In 20 years of going there... parking in motorway Aires to toll Booth parking zones I am truly lucky to be alive....

Stick with wild camping in Liverpool. It's much safer

I was planning our first trip to France a couple of years ago.
The advice Gerry Hughes gave me was "It's a doddle".
He was spot on.
Just go, do it, enjoy it.
Come off the boat, turn right, follow your nose.

As long as you leave the kids enough wonga to keep 'emselves fed I would not worry.. but hide any Chinese or Cantonese cook books, especially ones entitled 101 ways to wok your dog

ALL TRUE STORY:ROFLMAO:

We went for the first time in July & August this year here is what we found.

1) When you get to the other side the first thing you realise is the sat nav you have in your lovely motorhome is only for England and Ireland. "I'M THE IDIOT AND DID NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT".

2) The "passenger" then takes the initiative to read the maps and you have not got the German Bord Atlas only small scale AA map (we got a Bord Atlas (brilliant by the way) after being "over there" nearly a month).

3) Then when the "navigator" says turn left, because their brain is still in the UK where we drive on the left she (sorry Ann), meant right.:shout:

4) Of course we did not have the sat nav for finding our way out of the ferry terminal or to take us to the camp site.:whatthe:

5) Then we had advice from Brian Hilldweller saying what ever you do, do not stay in Lille as it is full of rogues and people from eastern sector of the continent trying to get into the UK so our planned first few days were "on the wing".

6) Nearly forgot we also did not have a phone,it also did not work once we crossed over, full of pay as you go for the trip.:Eeek:

7) This was all my fault and I accept FULL responsibility for not making sure both the Sat Nav and phone were upgraded to work on the continent.

8) We were lucky to have very good weather and we fed the mosquitoes when we went for a shower once. We lost 2 stone in one sitting:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The trip to France, Holland ,Belgium, Germany, Poland, Luxemburg and finally France on the way back was a test of patience.

BUT WE ARE STILL MARRIED AND GOD BLESS HER SHE DID HER BEST AND SHE HAD TO COOK, CLEAN AND GENERALLY LOOK AFTER ME AS WELL.:roflmto::roflmto::ROFLMAO:

Would we go again, YOU BET BUT WITH A LITTLE MORE THOUGHT. IT WAS A GOOD EXPERIENCE GENERALLY AND DESPITE NOT HAVING PHONE OR SAT-NAV WE MANAGED VERY WELL ALSO WE MET SOME WONDERFUL PEOPLE FROM MANY COUNTRIES
Possibly going again in the New Year not got that far yet but would like to go where it is warm for a month or two. At the Lincoln show 'funsters' were planning trips to Spain and Morroco and that is tempting.

Just go for it, it will be an experience whatever happens and if it all goes wrong and the dogs have an asbo for crapping in the street and the wild parties the kids have while you are away so what. IT IS ALL PART OF GROWING OLD.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

HAVE A SAFE TRIP AND ENJOY::bigsmile::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

KIND REGARDS
HARRY

Is this the right place to tell the true tale of the most famous party ever held in Cheadle Hulme in the early Sixties?

It went on for nearly a week...

Mods and Rockers partying together in drunken peace...

I was 19 though and we didn't have a dog...

My folks never left me alone in the house ever again!

I wouldn't joke about it, not now - knowing full well what our little cherub of a grandson (approx. 6'3" 16/17 yo) perpetrated or allowed to be perpetrated - whilst his parents and sister were in France. And obviously, we all only know about the bits that were actually evident.

The cats and fish were 100% fine though, so that part's fine!
