I thought one of their slogans is "we will go the extra mile". Quite a few extra miles in this instance.

I think I read somewhere that they station some vans in Europe in hot spot areas in the summer. Where the computer tells them that most breakdowns happen.

A few years ago we followed an NHS ambulance along the motorway from Beziers in the south of France North towards Claremont F. until we turned off for a rest break. All sign written and a recent registration with two uniformed guys in the front. Not something you see every day :)

They do base some AA vans in Europe over the summer months. My friend's husband spends 3 months over there. She pops over for her summer hols whilst he is there. His name is Lee if you should ever come across him.

Must be reassuring if you are stuck in rural France and an AA man turns up to help. Wonder if there competitors do the same.

think I'd prefer a motor mechanic
Joking aside, you are doing them an injustice Jim most of the Breakdown drivers that I have come across are very competent, most are in fact ex motor mechanics. (y)

Spoke to one of the AA guys today and MichelleRyall is spot on!
They are here from July till Sept, and have been coming here
for 7 years as its cheaper for the AA to do that than use local
garages!

We had Lee from Liverpool visit us on a campsite on the west coast a couple of years ago. The AA find it saves them a fortune as so many things are minor and can be sorted at the roadside whereas the French garages always like to tow back to their own garage and that means more expense for motorhomers as they need to pay to put them up.
