The council have introduced (2012) no overnight parking around most of that area and are supposed to be policing it's enforcement. If weather is bad you could have many excuses if approached but safer on a site. Sometimes problems late at night with the naughty boys coming out from Glasgow.
Good luck anyway you decide.

Hi Bill,
No problems parking overnight, a chap challenged the legality of the "no overnight camping signs" earlier this year, and lo and behold, there had never been any legislation passed on this, all councils have been ordered to remove the signs, no doubt some wont be in a hurry,
You are not wrong about the weather, it has been crap today, tomorrow forecast a little better though,
Safe journey home,

Hi Laura, Just caught your post before I went out, there are no restrictions on parking at the side of Loch Lomond, I live there !,

A superb spot to overnight or two, is as you enter the A82 at Stoneymollen roundabout ( you will know it due to the hideous timber structure with the geese on it hehehe ! ), after half a mile or so take the first right turn, signposted Cameron House Hotel and Duck Bay, drive just past the Duck Bay Hotel and park up alongside the Loch on the right hand side, the view you will wake up to is among the best in the world, nice and quiet at night, and a pint and meal if you fancy, in the hotel,

There is always LUSS CCC site, but to tell ya the truth I'd rather sleep under the stars than there again, had two nights there a few weeks ago, worst two nights in 3 weeks of Scottish tour

Hi Laura as has been mentioned above no problem stopping at Duck bay or other lay-bys, depending on how far you want to drive you can also park at waterfalls (can't remember name of them) they're signposted just a few miles past Ardlui, very quiet. Also if you want to drive slightly further you can overnight in the car park of the Big Green Welly shop in Tyndrum just let them know in the petrol station, also you can overnight in the car park across the road I stayed there for 3 nights in July.

Just go a little further to Tyndrum where you can stop safely in the car park of the "Green Wellie" cheap fuel there, toilets and resturant does a "full Scottish " in the morning to set you for your next part of your trip. Whatever you enjoy Scotland !!

We stopped over night at one of the Tourist Information carparks at the waters edge, no one said anything, even when they turned up in the morning to open up.
