I have noted iin the last year the close friendship that members of Motorhome Fun have. But what about the chance sightings and meetings?

I have been on a beach in Spain and have been spoken to. I have sat just feet from a neighbour in Cornwall. I have seen an old car of mine go by both of us 350 miles from home. I have met my son also on a long weekend in Paris, both with appropriate better halves!
A friend was at an exhibition 100 miles from home when his young son exclaimed in a loud voice, "look dad, that's our neighbour there but that's not his wife is it?"
My wife would never be caught out though, I lose her in a supermarket, I'm convinced she could hide in an empty room.............

I was in Kreiskrankenhaus Lundenshidt, I'd had an arguement with a train line while riding a M/Bike, and a wound had turned septic, The girl that came to stick a needle in my Bottom, lived just up the terrace from me back home:Sad:

Her parting shot was " always knew you were a cheeky chap!"

We were at the Northern MH Show a couple of years ago when I heard my name called and there was my cousin and her husband. They only live 30 miles away from the showground but had only gone on the spur of the moment and had no idea we would be there.

Another time we had gone up to the Metro Centre at Gateshead. As we were walking out another cousin came in with her husband. They live in Derbyshire and were staying at Sunderland visiting his sister, unbeknown to us.

Some 20 years or so ago, I had a friend who was a senior police officer in the Queensland Police on attachment to the Australian Embassy in London. He was a Detective Superintendant. Anyhow, I was travelling back from Australia and checking out of my hotel in Bangkok and got chatting to this Aussie who was going to work in the UN Peace keeping force on Cyprus, and it turned out that he was my mates ‘best man’ at his wedding…

18 years s Motorhome (33years caravans)
Two strange ones for us.

one in Australia went to one of the big casinos and met people who had lived next door to us years before and we did not even know they had emigrated, we ended up having a nice meal at there house and them taking us out on a car rally with them.

Next we were walking along the front in Essuora (Morocco) and came across a English reg van parked on the front,, got talking to them for a while, and they only lived 20 mile from us at home, we had a chat then went on our way.
A year later we were parked at Arisaig in Scotland miles from anywhere when we found our neighbors were the couple we had met in Morocco on the sea front.

Not only that but the man used to work in the same high school as my son-in-law, not only that but our son in law was now doing his job.

I once met a guy who knew someone that had been gassed in mh while having an a frame attached :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

On a trip to Florida one year we sat next to this other couple and after saying hi we found out they lived in Dumfries also. When back home had never seen them again and Dumfries isn't big, then a couple of years later we booked a holiday to Florida and guess who was sitting next us no idea well same here:ROFLMAO:Rofl1::ROFLMAO:. Only joking it was the same couple from Dumfries and haven't seen them since.

While on our honeymoon which was walking the west highland way we met this older German couple a few times so got talking to them and they asked where we came from, told them Dumfries and the lady said her sister lived there turned out to be our vets wife.

Travelling with my dad we are certain to bump into someone he knows or a relative of someone he knows. We did a tour of the Guinness factory in Dublin and the tour guide used to drink in my dads pub in Glasgow. Stepped of a cruise in the Caribbean one year and first guy we met also knew my dad from his publican days.

When I was in Saudi Arabia I bumped into a friend's wife out shopping - I had no idea either of them were in Saudi.

About 9 months after I sold my first MH I pulled into a service station on the M1 about 100 miles from home and my MH was the vehicle in front of me at the pumps.

When driving back to Sunderland from Scotland I picked up a hitchhiker just outside Dundee. He lived in a flat next door to me in Sunderland.

A similar one - driving from Birmingham to London I picked up a hitchhiker who it transpired was sharing a flat with an old schoolfriend of mine.

It truly is a much smaller world than it seems :whatthe:
