I have found recently that Google maps is slow and clunkey

In my search for something faster and easier to use I came across this......

    http://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=7/52.091/-2.634

I thought I would post it here in case any one is interested. I like to use 'puter maps for planning our trips in the van and Google is driving me potty with their 'new' maps

I like the alternative so far........... it is fast and easy to use:D

They are what campercontact uses for off-line maps and a lot of other applications. OSMAnd is an Android app you can get to which you can download their maps and use them off-line. OSM is OK and you can choose different layers, for example the cycle one shows terrain. Being free is a huge bonus but in some parts you will find the detail limited. For example I tried OSMAnd in part of Spain last year and it had very little detail for the town I was in. It depends on volunteers entering the data and if the place is sparsely populated then I think not much detail is added. :)
