If you can find one for sale, this is a fabulous motorhome, made from around 2000 - 2005. It would probably still be at, or a bit above your upper price limit though.

Have you looked on Link Removed, nearly every German dealer lists here and plenty of private sales all well below UK prices.

Thanks Jean Luc that Hymer would be ideal even if a 2005 might be out of my price range. Motorhome Depot did have a 2001 in Inverness but always reluctant to deal with a broker.
There are so few A class motorhomes for sale in the UK that as Lenny H, advised - I have looked on Mobile DE but they are not that cheap at the moment.
There is a Eura Mobile 2003 from a Dutch dealer but he did not want to supply any extra photos or history - de van is perfect inside and out - is all I got.
I will just keep looking with fingers crossed.

We've just bought our Rapido A class from Marquis and cannot fault them thus far. I think it's worth looking at dealers. You can drive a hard bargain, I'm sure. Plus you know it's a safe deal, and you get a guarantee as well. If you don't look at dealers you are cutting your options down a lot. But good luck with your search.

Thanks again Jean Luc - well spotted. I will give them a phone tomorrow as they are not too far from us.
I haven't given up on dealers - I was just hoping that a private seller could do a good deal with a private buyer!!
