We have recently purchased a motorhome and it has come to us with a 90 watt solar panel.
My concern is if the panel and system is man enough to charge both batteries to run led lights, telly and water pump.
    Any input much appreciated..

Not in Wales today :) How many amp/hours batteries do you have?

We have one 110 Ah battery and an 85w solar panel. Pump, LED lights, sat tuner & telly, all gadget recharging, plus heating fan, no problem most of the year but not Dec-Feb.

There's a similar thread on the forum at the moment. The crux is having leisure batteries in good condition. Might be worth getting them checked and tested if you are about to depart on a long trip away from electricity.

90 watts will be fine from beginning of May to end of September.

If your batteries are in good condition you should have no probs,as Mr Surfbus says he runs more equipment on a smaller battery bank without problems .

If your solar electric system doesn't have a detailed monitor, just bag a cheap 12v cigarette socket voltmeter off eBay and leave it in a habitation area socket while you're using the van.

My alternator and EHU charge at 14.2v, the solar panel is restricted to around 13.6v, and after sunset the leisure battery settles to around 12.8v. With the telly on and maybe a couple of lights it'll drop to around 11.5v but recovers again overnight. My battery's an Elecsol carbon fibre about 8 years old.

So long as you don't watch hours and hours of TV on a night you shouldn't have any problems at all - we had a 75w panel and 2 batteries for years and never had a problem and we wild camp all the time, now have a 60w panel and 2 batteries - so far so good!

Heyup Mel, following your posting on fitting a solar panel I did the same, now have 2 x 100w panels plus 3 leisure bats in the Rhythm because of an EL only fridge. Other wise one panel and 2 bats would easily suffice.

Oh yes, the 'dreaded' electric only fridges ... so glad I haven't got one ... gotta get the money's worth out of my refillable gas system! :D

I have one of these to check my eng battery, however if used to check hab batteries at what voltage reading would you say that it's time to turn everything off and wait for a charge?

Everything we need still works fine with it showing 11.5v - I've yet to see it go lower. At night time with everything off it settles at 12.8v. I'd only be concerned if the 'resting' (ie no solar input) voltage was below 12v, which would probably mean it's time for a new battery.

I had a minor issue with the TV's power pack needing to 'build up' a charge before plugging it into the TV, but found that was a poor connection in the power pack, now fixed with a soldering iron.

Thanks everybody for the advice. I think I'm just going to change my basic PWM to a 30amp LED controller with USB ports.
Rather than a couple of lights this should tell me a bit more of what's going on. If my regulator is say 10amp,am I ok putting the 30amp one in?
