Has anybody any ideas about fridges. It's a three way fridge RM something can't remember exact model, anyway it's not working on either gas or electric, never used the twelve volt side. It was working fine on electric, switched it off with everything else to go shopping did not work on return tried gas also didn't work. Any clues I would be very grateful for help. Thanks. Teepee.

Three Way Fridge Problem

Hi TeePee,

As there are no lights at all showing it could be a fuse or a 'trip' on the RCD circuit of your system. I wouldn't advise trying it on 12v unless you are hooked up to 240v as the drain on a leisure battery is quite high on a fridge.

Check ALL your electrical connections and if you can get your fridge out make sure all the rear and top connections are tight and have not vibrated loose. There are a number of connections behind the top control panel and I found a loose one earlier this year when I had a similar problem with mine, also an RM Model. I removed the fridge for a better look and found it. The problem was only partly that and luckily I was near a motorhome specialist at the time who diagnosed it as a failed heater element and fixed it for £50. As the part was over £30 I thought that was a bargain. It makes ice now!!

Dometic/Electrolux heater elements are easily available on Ebay and it isn't a difficult job if you are at home with tools. Sadly I wasn't, but for £20 labour it was a no-brainer.

Sometimes in-line fuses are used in the weirdest places and are not easily spotted. Get the fridge out if you can. It will give you loads of access and if you can't fix it it's much easier taking the unit to a service agent and cheaper than having to take the camper and let them remove it!

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Mike

PS... make sure you have enough gas pipe before hauling the fridge out of the hole! :)

Since 1990 on/off
Try removing the 12V fuse in your fuse panel for a few seconds.

My Dometic RM7505 with AES did something similar recently 'automatically' selecting no energy source at all for reason unknown. The fault light did not come on either. Didn't notice until ice for me Gin melted. Removing the 12V fuse for a few seconds put it all right.

Cheers.
