where can I purchase a decent 240v/12vdc adapter for my tv,as I noticed on my tv it has a socket for 12v dc.

May seem a daft question, but why do you want a 240 to 12 volt adaptor.
Just run the tv off 12v all the time. Plenty of 12v stablised supplies on flea bay

Be carefull, you need to get the polarity right !

If you've got a telly and your on hook up all the time , doesn't matter if its 12v or 240 v
However if your planning to camp without hookup a 240 v telly can't be run without an inverter and this will drain your battery quicker than if you can run it on 12v .If so all you need is a 12v compatible tv ,a 12v socket ,a lead with the same conection as the imput on your tv,which can be easily be bought on ebay for a few quid.
Then you can park in a field watch tv(if you have an aerial,or a DVD if not)
And your tv will be powered through your leisure battery!
