I just came across a Youtube video demonstrating a new 2016 American PVC, based on a Fiat X250-like van - the Roadtrek Zion Class B Touring Van Motorhome.

From my perspective, it was interesting for a number or reasons:

1. They're not using the latest X290 base?

2. It has a clever mosquito net for the double rear barn doors

3. It has NOT so clever side mounted (2-point) lap seat belts in the rear!!

4. Lots of electric gadgets, including the sofa

5. A different variation on the bathroom design

6. And an interior finish which looked really dated to my eye

As an aside, has anybody seen a European flyscreen/mosquito net for the rear doors of a Ducato X290? Either as standard or after fit?

Interesting van, some pictures here of a slightly different rear end with across the back sofa:

Yes, the Americans have got a few different ideas about layouts and design. Not seen anything like the one you've identified, over this side of the pond.

The company - Roadtrek - have three Fiat Ducato/Dodge-based models (apparently known as the Ram ProMaster over there), starting from about £55,700 Sterling, though no idea what taxes, if any, they add in the US.

Mel, have you ever come across any flyscreens you can fit across the back of an X250/X290? I'd be quite interested for when we get our new van.

This must be a super Mini Winnie

Americans/Canadians have always liked compact van based campers as well as RV's....

I don't like the toilet/shower, nor the layout.. (but that is subjective.. we all have our favourite layouts.. )

Kitchen .. cooker only two burners,

Cabin.. looks dated and bland.. the grey leather, not for me.. makes it look like a school bus

I'm afraid it's a 'could do better' on the report card ....

@Terry makes much nicer and better quality conversions..

For ours I simply mounted an expandable curtain pole (net curtain type but not the flimsy one) across the back and hung some nice net/voile curtains on that which works very well, you can see them hung over the pole in the photo in our previous PVC although this was on a thinner pole than the one I've used in our Globecar so fits better:

However I was thinking of a different version using some of the magnetic door fly screens meant for domestic external doors etc, cheap as anything and as they have magnets on they should hold tight to the metal sides - I've just had a shuftie at some Roadtrek photos and noticed that someone has done this exact same thing!

I knew you'd have some ideas on the subject. Thanks. (y)

I like the simple idea you've adopted, and will perhaps look to do something along those lines.

But I'm surprised nobody (to my knowledge) has produced a commercially available bespoke product for the back doors.

Perhaps someone needs to get in touch with Lily Pads Leisure and approach them about making something up using their Windblocker material, I think it would probably be an excellent material for the purpose and they have manufacturing facilities.

Sounds like a first-class idea - thanks.
