Think they separated in 2011. & CNH is sole owner now.

Iveco has a range of technological solutions that meet a variety of customers' needs and different missions. The range of eco-friendly Iveco products is vast: the company has decided to invest in various technologies, being aware that there is not just one solution for a sustainable transport. The vehicles equipped with diesel engines, the most common engine adopted today, are those on which Iveco works every day to improve their efficiency and technical features with excellent results. For its vehicles, the company uses FPT Industrial products, a company of the FIAT Industrial Group dedicated to the design, production and sale of power units - See more at: http://www.iveco.com/Corporate-en/Company/Pages/Diesel-engine.aspx#sthash.f18eUS0K.dpuf

enjoyed the freedom over the last couple of years but still Wish we could have got away more often
But sadly it is probably Italian electrics :( I did want a transit (apart from anything the ones I looked at had cruise & aircon) but the living or length of vehicle just did not work.

Don't really matter who owns who as long as Iveco keep making good engines.

The phrase " I have a 3.0 litre Ducato Boxer Relay" is really I have a Ducato Boxer Relay with a 3 litre Iveco engine :D

Actually ,no. When you dig deeper & deeper it is all smoke & mirrors
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iveco & Fiat & the Agnellis are still major shareholder & then
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Industrial

it is like the magic roundabout.
I think the CNH NV dutch bit was tax advantageous

Yes Dutch owned, but not really, only in theory . . . As I stated earlier, dig deeper & FIAT are there, FPT products, owned by FIAT, design, produce & sell Iveco engines & transmission units.

Diesel cars in Europe from 2004 had to be compliant with OBD II by law as I understand but have sneaky suspicion this was not quite the case with commercial vehicles.

I think commercials had to be compliant from 2007...
And many were just before that rather than wait as the manufacturers bought out their latest euro 4 engines..
I have an 08 transit and an obd reader will work on the power train... If you want to look at other modules you will need some manufacturer specific files... ie chassis ,abs, restraint systems etc..
For good diagnostics I still think you need to be able to look at the manufacturer specific codes... but that's just my opinion..
Andy.
