2006 2.8L JTD Engine/Fifth Gear ? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have any opinions on the 2.8L fiat circa 2005/6 ?
Thinking of 3500 Max weight with overcab bed.

Also, I have read something about fifth gear being too high.

Any thoughts?

While you are asking, ask about failing 5th gears. I know I've seen it somewhere.

Have a 2.8JTD on a 3500kg coachbuilt - 2004 - 52,000 miles - brilliant engine - pulls well even in 5th:thumb:

I have had 2 x 2005 fiat ducato on the 2.8JTD and both have been excellent. One was on 3500Kg the other 4500KG and both were spot on.

The fifth gear issue if I recall correctly was on the previous model which I think went out of production in either 99 or 01...

Would the 2.8 be more economical than a 2.3 on a fully loaded 3500kg (over cab bed) van due to a better power to weight ratio?

my MH with a over cab does feel a little tall geared in fifth, but more power would solve it:Cool:
