Hi. We are thinking of buying one of these, as we particularly like the interior layout. However we have read some neg. comments on the low level base of this m/home. Does anyone have any comments at all about this motorhome, its bodywork, chassis or interior features etc., either positive or negative, which may help us to decide whether this is the one for us.

Hi pipthebike and :welcome: to the Fun.

You don't say which model you are looking at but we have a 2010 Autocruise which is officialy a 4 berth but as it has only 2 seat belts we feel it is more of a 2 berth with a spare double bed if required.

Like most motorhomes we have had a few minor problems but nothing very serious and we love it.

We are always looking around but have never found anything that suits us better.

Brian

Hi Joyce & Brian

Sorry, the m/homes we are interested in are a 2008 or 2009 2 berth Autocruise Stardream, or Starburst.

If I had a choice I would choose a 2008 model as this would probably have been built by the original Autocruise company. They built a quality motorhome and have a very loyal following. I owned a couple of Autocruise vans and there aftersales was faultless. Last year we purchased a Bentley which is manufactured by the same family who owned Autocruise and the build quality is excellent. I feel sure you will be happy with an original so good luck in your hunt. Peak Leisure Vehicles have a rather nice Autocruise for sale.

We had a 59 reg Autocruise Sportstar. 2 berth with the bed over the garage. Apart from the a few things missed in the PDI we were very happy with the van. Nice to drive and it had all the options ( air con, cruise control etc) and it was more economical than our Landrover :Eeek:.

Hello
We have 2008 Startrail, and very happy with it, a couple of little things have had to be done but only through ware and tare as we use it all the time. We spoke to young Mr Bentley (original gent who built Autocruise) at the Shepton Mallet show last year and he said our model would have been built at the Swift factory but by the Autocruise blokes who were still employed by them at that time using Autocruise parts apart from the fixed bed which would have been swift! It is quite low on the ground and having to catch a ferry whenever we leave our rock, we fitted a tow bar and wheels on which if it does touch, just roll it off without damaging the bottom, we just take it nice and easy.
Enjoy which ever model you go for beautiful motorhomes - if we win the lottery we'd go for a new Bentley!

Hi, cant comment on 2008/2009 models but we have a 2011 starfire and cant fault it , it was the last year Swift made coachbuilts under the name Autocruise. I personally think this vehicle comes a very close second to my previous m/h which was an A class Pilote Galaxy 27 1998, which was fab. Terry:Cool:

Hi. We had a 2006 Autocruise Stardream in which we toured Germany,Poland,Estonia,Latvia,Lithuania,Spain,Portugal and Morocco. The van was a joy to live in. Due to the low alko chassis, we has the electric step removed after "grounding" on slopes etc. Entering and leaving ferries had to be tackled with care, in driving across the high points of the entrances at right or left angles to minimise the risks of grounding the chassis. Although the Eb/er dsl heating system never gave probs.,it was"nt that efficient when sitting in the rear lounge and the heater being down at the front of the van. Twice on our travels we had two serious offers to sell the van, so it was quite an eye catcher. Just be aware of the low chassis at all times.
