I have seen a test with near identical MHs with 3 different engines from the smallest to the largest and the differences in mpg between them was minimal. Small engines work harder than big ones and it can even itself out.

Well with due respect I don't think that's quite true. I am an ex HGV driver of over 22yrs experience and learned that there is a lot of difference, but I thank you very much for your answer as it is possible that it may be a 2.8 that we go for.:)

Yes but in the haulage industry 3 mpg can be the difference of changing the fleet or not. Over say 50,000 mls at said 3mpg it's an awful lot of fuel/mls.

2.8 jtd - between 20 and 26 mpg depending on wind, speed and many other factors to numerous to list. To be honest I don't really care as the whole package gives me so much pleasure.

Perhaps, just perhaps I may be a little more experienced than you? But I go with what I said; it’s not what, but how

    2.2 Mercedes, 29.9 mpg @60 mph.

Mind you it is a C200 estate pulling a Sterckerman caravan.

    Then when it's not towing it's 49.5 @ 70mph+

You got it, there's a small window of revs/speed/ gears isn't there?
