doesnt look a bad tv with a reasonable power rating and good price.

it will use maybe double the stated 25w (2amps) as a DVD player though

I just got a really cheap TV from Tesco Direct. About 80 quid including DVD, if I recall. Most really cheap TVs are too cheap to have the mains adapter built in and just have a 12V adapter, which is easily bypassed with a soldering iron.

We bought one on line for £99 last year. It has the DVD player and USB plug enabling it to play recorded films via the USB slot. It was 12 volt/mains but did not come complete with a 12 volt lead so got one of the multi voltage leads from Maplin. Works great. Sorry but cant remember the site I got the thing from though.

Normally buy premium products however bought one of these ...

.

... in a panic after Avtex failed. It has external 12V mains power supply so was easy to unplug and find seperate 12V DC lead (with fuse!). Been using it 8-months and haven't bothered repairing the Avtex!

Only thing I would say this that the screen 'viewing angle' is nowhere near as good as the Avtex that is the colours are faded if not sat directly in front of the screen but for less than £100 ...

Cheers.

Bought a 19 inch telly + Dvd from Asda for £80, having first cjecked it had a 12v transformer, rather than direct 240 v supply. then a gizmo from Maplins as a 12 v supply. All sorted, excellent picture. But the OP's original suggestion looks good value also.

Looking forward to hearing how well it performs.

How do you rate Capitalstores? Have you used them before?

Yes, but only to buy a new power supply for the last television.
That arrived quickly so fingers crossed for this.
They are based at Trafford, pretty close to me so it ought to arrive soon enough.

I bought my Avtex 18 months ago from them. As I remember it arrived pretty quickly and had no problem with it or them. Hope it goes as well for you.:thumb:

Well the AVTEX tele arrived on Tuesday, via PARCELFORCE, so thumbs up for Capital Stores, I ordered it last Saturday.
Out of the box it looks the biz and fits perfectly where we intend to use it. Comes with a remote and two power supply cables. I plugged it straight into the 12V and hooked up the aerial. Tuning was straight forward and within minutes we had some 60 odd tele channels and a dozen or so radio.
There are more features on this machine than I am liable to use but it's all straight forward enough and the instruction book is simple to follow.
A most useful button on the remote is the large orange AQT button, a shortcut to quick tuning.
I've attached a few photos of our set up. I'm really pleased with the quality of the picture and there are no issues with viewing from an angle. The sound is also excellent.
The set includes a satellite tuner as well but I don't yet own a dish so can't report on that function as yet.
