12v Laptop Charger ? (1 Viewer)

I keep plugging my laptop into the 300w inverter but it's a pain due to where it is.

Are there any decent 12v chargers I could use and just plug into cig lighter?

Yes. We bought ours off ebay. They tend to be make specific due to different connectors. Ours is for a Dell. Paid about £20.

I've got two from Maplin of different vintages. Both work fine, never had a problem. They do several capacities, would recommend going for the highest Wattage one they have in excess of what your laptop needs (just to reduce stress on the transformer and allow for any future computer changes). Take the laptop with you into the store and check one of the adaptors will fit your laptop (some HP laptops have an extra large socket which Maplin don't yet cover)

Search for car laptop charger on eBay. It will come up with several like This one, which is similar to one I bought years ago and am still using. Check with the seller that it has a tip for your particular model.

I've used an eBay-bought 12v input with variable voltage multi-plug output adapter on a Windows laptop without difficulty.

I also have a patent violating 12v Chinese-made item that works just fine with my Macbook, as I'm not prepared to pay a ridiculous sum for the official Apple product.

Some laptops will only recognize a specific charger. My Dell is one, it has a 3 core lead and one cable tells the laptop if it is a Dell charger. Don't know if there is a way round this.
