It may be more a case of not many of us being involved with self builds and not wanting to give incorrect information.
We seem pretty good at sorting issues once the vans are built.

Grommets reply re the seperate location away for the batteries seem's a valid one. At the end of the day you just need to locate it somewhere practical for your vehicle, bearing in mind you need to get at it to do the wiring work plus any repairs if it fails. Mine is in a high level cupboard but on other vans i have seen them down at floor level so I dont think there is anywhere in particular.
