I'm looking for the above with a hard drive please.
Anyone know of one?
Ive searched and searched but I've not been successful.
They seem to work from 240v, surely there must be other people wanting to use one when not on electric?
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks Paul, did you have to buy a 12 volt adaptor for it to work from 12 volt as it doesn't mention a 12 volt adaptor in the specs ?

@scotjimland
Ok I've seen that, so an adaptor can be bought then, and that would work on 12volt as well as on electric when using the 240 adaptor?

Living the dream.
Right what it is you start with a 230v plug then a transformer box about 6 inch long by 2inch then a lead with a 12v plug on the end that goes into the back of the unit. I used an old 12 lead that everyone has in the back of a drawer somewhere and wired it into a 12 plug. There is an on/off switch on the front of the unit.(y)

You need something . This one is 3 amps but experts will know if you must have the 2 amps depicted in Jim's picture, and ensure the polarity is the same on the 12v side as depicted on that pic.

@Badknee

So you can use an adaptor that's been used with a 240v, by cutting the end off (the end with the 3 pin plug) and wiring in the end (the part that goes in the 12 volt cigarette lighter plug) the 12volt cable?

Buy the Freeview box you want (making sure it has a 12v socket on the back) then take it with you down to your nearest Maplin store and ask them for the 12v cable for it. They will sell you the right size plug on the end of a lead with a cigar lighter plug on it all ready to go. Then you don't need to chop up your 240v transformer lead (which you may need in the future).
