We have our MH stored at Teesside Caravans and have a quote from them for £120 to carry out the Habitation Service which is due on our Rapido 983M A class.
We've never had to pay for one before so don't know if this a reasonable price or not.
How much have other Funsters paid recently?

Our supplying dealer in Reading, Berkshire charges £216 excluding materials for a habitation service. I'm thinking of moving North before the service is due:Rofl1:

If your going to a show P.M C.L.S or Ash and one of them will do it for you if they are going to be at the same show. Very reasonable price and job done properly.

Mark from CLS did ours at Bosworth Water Trust last year and we were very pleased. It was around £125 in total and that included one or two small jobs.:BigGrin::BigGrin:

Like Buttons never had one in 25 years

    In 25 years and a good 10 motor-homes (1 euro box and 9 RV's) I have never had a habitation check.

I do what I need to do myself and when i have the vehicle serviced I state what I need.

I have just been quoted the same price from a local guy who does motorhomes and caravans, found him by accident on the net whist looking for something else.
Didn't know we had some one as close.

I paid £130 two weeks ago, the guy was MCEA approved and came and did the checks at my home saved me taking it back to the dealer. The check was necessary to keep manufacturers warranty alive but when I saw how thorough the checks were I was well impressed. I don't think it's much of a boast Bob that in 25 years you have done whatever was needed yourself, didn't you do a 400 mile round trip a month or two ago to get an alarm system looked at? You might counter that specialised kit was needed for the alarm system but do you have the kit to pressure test gas or damp checks or electrical equipment yourself. I would suggest that whilst you are having sevicing done you were paying for habitation checks anyway.

I would think that a hab check would reveal a creeping damp problem long before you might discover it yourself and long before it might cause a serious problem. Well done Bob if you can do all that yourself but we're not so smart and do, occasionally, need help as, I suspect, others do on here.

Did I read on here a while ago that a habitation service is a completely different thing to a damp check and you have to make sure you ask for/and get both??

No, the damp check is included within the hab check. Ours electrics, alarms, toilet and other things were checked. Well worth it in my opinion, but I won't have it done again until next year, that's a 2 year gap.

There's not truly a lot of things that are rocket science except rocket science, but can the manometer you show pressure test to 50psi? Can the damp meter detect without piercing the inner fabric? can the multi meter do a drop test on your leisure battery? Kit that can do these functions does not come cheap but most importantly where do you obtain the documentation to authorise you to sign off a valid gas test?

Contrary to what we are lead to believe Gooney, annual gas safety inspections are not a requirement for motorhomes or caravans or statics. Likewise with PAT testing or any of the other habitation checks. Warranty requirements are purely that.
